The challenge looks great as always, and I would love to participate again, but there is just no way for me this year. I’m currently living in a tiny motel apartment for the next month and a half. This puts me about an hour and forty five away from all my tools and shop. I’m also concentrating hard on the new job and arrive slightly spent when I get back to my temporary man cave. I get to travel back home on the weekends to be with my wife and son, but I dare not spend the time on the challenge when I’m there. So I will get some railroading in.

Lou, this is far from bad, perhaps a bit in convenient for a month or two but the new job is awesome. My first project is working on the double end PCC trolley refurbishment!
David , yup there were a lot of false stats and dead ends, but to me it was all completely worth it to finally land where I did.
Yeah, guys I’m real happy right now. So let the build begin and it will add a few more smilies yet to my life, even if I can’t play this year.

PCC refurbishment. WOW! that’s cool. I thought most cities were scraping the olde PCCs for the new LRVs. After all, the original PCC design is from the 1930’s

Be on the look out for a small Priority Mail box.
Most boxes are scheduled for delivery on Saturday 1/7/17, and a few are for Monday 1/9/17.
Everyone got all the extra stuff they asked for.
The hard part will be waiting the extra week before you can start actual construction.
Not really Dave, plenty for me to do until the start scrounging through the garage looking for the plywood and lumber scraps I’m going to need, as well as the parts bins for the windows and other details. Also need to print out the cutting templates for the wall panels. Can’t do my usual cheapskate build this time as this will go outdoors so gotta make it tougher than my usual work.
I’m travelling and just had a chance to check emails and if it is ok to get off to a late start in mid January count me in.
Those stones look like a great start to an interesting build and I have been tipping my elbow at many English and Irish pubs.
I think the hardworking lads of the Rock Root and Pup Poop RR deserve a place to grab a pint and the Taylor stones would make for a strong foundation to a pub.

I would think you are OK. I mean my engineer finished up the CAD drawings and now my plans are at the printers. Should have blue prints done this afternoon and they can be delivered to the appropriate government agencies for review. We finished up the environmental impact study yesterday and the local tribe is reviewing the cultural study tomorrow. I think we should have permits issued by the 11th and a precon meeting will e the 12th. I am hopeful I can break ground on the 13th.
Wow Devon, for someone that is constantly beaten for Devoning, you sure got a jump on the paper trail part of things. My non existant RR is going on the we own the land and we will do what we want, course of action. Mrs Landowner may at a later date come in with heavy explosives and re arrange things

Been a while since I worked on NEPA projects with the last one being for a high voltage transmission line through the Chino Hills State Park. But I do CEQA MNDs (air quality, greenhouse gases, noise) on a regular basis for various developers here in CA. Done literally over a thousand.
