Mik's Build Challenge 2016

@John, You can cut all the lumber you want to, Who am I to stop you. BUT, you can’t use it for the build challenge. You should have done that yesterday. Prior planning…

Edit: John have you ever tried to cut a scale 2x4 in 1:32? Thats Nuts to try, But i guess that it can be done. It scales out to be less then 1/16" x 1/8" and thats for true 2x4s, 1/4 size smaller yet for the modern stuff.

@Devon, The 1:20 panels scale out to finnished w/ overlaps (side and top) to 2ft x 10ft.

Ah, with my Proxxon saw I have cut lumber down to 1/32nds of an inch square. 1/16 x 1/8 is a common size for me, since I do model in 1:24th scale. And yes, I am nuts, but who cares?

Aaron do yourself a giant favor and jump in. The little diesel that Bart forced you at gun point (we know Rooster put him up to it and he held you down) to build could use an engine shed or a bunk house for the boys during restoration. Here is the thing for may the story telling is half the battle. Make it good. I promise you will enjoy this.

It can be practical, whimsical, or ???

Hahahaha sounds about right, now I gotta build a new structure to balance it out

Well, then, I’m in but I have no idea of what to do yet. As I understand it, we can make anything we want as long as it is under corrugated roofing/siding, starting with what Dave sends?

Dave, my address is 826 Santa Fe Drive, Denver, Colorado, 80204.

Thanks everyone.

John,

It’s my understanding that it doesn’t need be a roof, it just needs to be used. Examples of a tin shack or water troughs were shown… so throw the tin on your woody and park it at the station!

I’m glad you’ve joined in.

John

800 scale square feet of corrugated metal, and I believe it all needs to be used somehow. That would be an awfully big woody.

Gee David, I never knew you to be such a stickler!

Oh I see the problem… ‘park it at the TIN station…’

Will the judge take that?

The only thing I’m really sure of is that I will use up all that wonderful scale lumber Travis cut and sent me as a prize last year! I still have it all…what better way could there be to use it? Nice symmetry.

This is going to be fun; I just hope I have the time to do something good…

John Glad you like your prize from last year… I am cutting more for a prize year to give away as a prize. I really need to come up with a idea…

Lets see, you are cutting wood, and the challenge is corrugated metal siding and roofing as a starting point. How about a backwoods saw mill?

Dave,

Count me in. I have an idea in mind. 1:20 if you please. And I didn’t start cutting wood yet…but will soon (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-sealed.gif)

I have been told on here many times that if I don’t post pictures on here then it didn’t happen, so if I cut wood but don’t post pictures of it then it will not have happened right. Oh OK the saw will stay off until the 15 th

I had thought about that idea Dave…

Count me in Dave. I will be one of the newbies to Mik’s Build Challenge, but excited to participate. I’ll PM you with my address.

Dan

Dan, welcome to the challenge. I was the newb last year and even won a prize. Good luck and above al…HAVE FUN!!!

Count me in Dave. I’ll come up with something in 1:32 scale, utilizing your 800 sq ft of corrugated siding.

Gee, what if I built a corrugated metal supplier? Then I could just stack the metal on a pallet on the loading dock. Hey, I would be using the metal, all of it, in the build. (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Naw, I like my oil well idea better.

David, David, David! What part of " BUILD ANYTHING YOU WANT UNDER… I know that sometime my wording isn’t up to a 5th grade level as the US Army wanted me to write manuals to, but… a pallet , ahhhh come on, On the other hand, give it a try, and lets see how the judging goes. (I’ll bet on the side of Not Well).

Since I’m not moving I got to think what I am building. It will be an outhouse in 1:24. It will be a busy place. It will be serving three bars, including Mik’s Place!

Hey Doug,

I have just the facility for you… each establishment can have it’s own floor!

I’m happy to share this with you…

John

OMG!! That looks like a 12 holer to Me… Go For it Doug, That would almost qualify for last years Challenge.
