Mik's Build Challenge 2015 Paul A

Got my car kit last Thursday, and got started on Friday putting it together. Found some wood pieces not cut to length, so did a little trimming. Now, Saturday I am to the stage of a car with the Truck mounts glued in and waiting for the glue to set! I will try to post some pictures. We will see how well that works out!!!

Paul

My sketch plan, yes I don’t use a napkin!

Sorry I can not remember how to get a picture to show up!

Open an Album, click on Albums then the MyAlbum tab, create a folder for the build and post your pics there. Copy the url to enter into your blog. I find it easiest to upload my pics first and the open another tab for the post. It’s easy to jump from one to t’other with pic urls in tow.

To get the url open the pic full size and right click and copy url/pic location

Hope this helps.

Summary, pics need to be online to link into a post, Photobucket and the rest do the album part…

John

Thank you John, but you will notice I did not get a picture! I have a PC with Windows & as the operating system and it can be a trial to work with! And I have no PATIENCE with computers and the operating systems. So when it goes bust rather than lose it I quit missing with it! That way I don’t break anything!

Paul

First of all, do you have the pictures posted here in an album on LargeScaleCentral?

If so, tell me where they are an I will post them and explain how it is done. I didn’t see an album listed in your name.

Paul, I have Win 8.1 , but I use the Firefox browser. Bob put up a warning on the Home Page about IE…

Maybe Todd can help, I blindly go where only fools dare to go. As long as there is System restore I venture on…

Good Luck

John

Todd; Yes the pictures are in my freight shed. Under my name? When I click it, it opens. Bob sent me an email with some directions but I did not get the pop ups he is referring to.

Paul

Did you open the picture first? In the freight shed open pic and right click on it.

Taking the addy from the thumbnail pic won’t work.

I notice from the url that you are a year behind!

John

Hey, I am new to this too but here is what I do. I use fire fox

before making a reply, i click the Freight shed icon under the “AL” in the title block “large scale central” This opens my freight shed and I can see what I have uploaded.

it has opened a separate tab…look at the very top of the page above the “address line” and you see two tabs. this is useful. I can now find my image on my list or add a new one and find that. when I click on it i can see it “full size.”

Once I see the picture “full size” i click with the other (right hand) button. and select “copy Image location”

Now I click the other tab…where I am looking at the post i want to make…start my reply and click the little apple tree icon which lets me add the picture. where it says image URL i paste the “image location” the freight shed, add a simple discription and click “Insert”

Did you use the apple tree icon? post the image address using that…that is what I did below…problem is the image is big!

try again

just resize it…this one’s 800x600

That never works for me.

What works for me:

In another window:

Go to “Albums”

Go to “My Albums”

Locate the album in which your pictures are stored. For me, I keep these in “MIKs Challenge 2015.”

Go into that album

Click on the “Manage Photos” at the top to display the photos in this album.

The pictures will now appear in a left-hand column with their information.

“Right Click” on the picture that you want to pull up a menu.

Select “Copy Image”

Now change windows to get to your posting where you want to add the photo.

“Right Click” “Paste” right into your text without dealing with any of the icons above (i.e., filmstrip, tree, etc.). This will place your picture right into the text and it will be perfectly sized.

OK, now that I have a working computer and I different web browser, maybe I can get the pictures to load! Ken, thank you for getting the sketch posted. So far I have the car all assembled and the cabin built but not attached. Need to add some windows and a roof that can be removed to charge the battery (Lites you know!) I’ll see what I can do later to day, need to get some work done, need to pay for teh computer repairs!

Paul

Great Paul. You are really moving along. Looking forward to seeing the piccies. I love logging RR related models and pictures.

Paul: I am writing in the “Quick Reply” box at the bottom of the page. There’s a tiny icon in here that’s supposed to look like a tree, believe it or not. Once you’ve got your image url on your clipboard, al you have to do is click on that tree and paste in the url and you’re all set.

You get the image url by opening the image (not just the thumbnail, but the full image), then you right-click on the image and an attributes box will appear. Copy the url from the attributes box. Now the url is where you want it, on your clipboard, and you can paste it in using that tree icon.

This subject comes up over and over again, unfortunately. It would be much easier, especially for newbies, if the process were somehow a little more intuitive, but it is what it is…

Cheers, and good luck with your build!

Thank you guys for all your help. I do have one problem, I am still working and have a couple of problem children to get done! However I do have a couple of questions: 1) what does ‘url’ stand for? 2) what is the format of a ‘url’ address? Iam now using Firefox for the browser!

Paul

I had to look it up…it is “uniform resource locator” … You know-- “www.largescalecentral.com” … the web address of whatever you want to show or see. They get more complicated when you look at a specific item on any given web site. Often individual pages are indicated by a slash “/” and a name or code: “www.largescalecentral.com/forum…” Additional slashes for more detail or complicated web sites.

Photos will usually have “.jpg” as the last bit of the URL.

Usually you can just copy the URL address rather than type it out.
