They (yes they do) say if you want to make God laugh, tell Him your plans.
Today I feel like the butt of a bad joke, my sister is a force to be reckoned with and although I’m in my house, my home was packed up for a remodel while I recovered from surgery…
It’s a nice extended stay, has my touches, but … where is my stuff???
With out further ado … I announce the 2019 Canteen car. A nifty little beauty, as envisioned by a Master Daydreamer. Way out here in the desert, a canteen for a loco was standard protection, thus: A tank over each truck and a goods section between. The second tank has drinking water.
Section houses along the line support the RR workers far from civilization. Their needs simple; Water, fire, flour and beans. Gardening and hunting fills out the menu. Long ago I made the cheapo decision to go with 1:24 and use Aristo’s Classic line.
I’ll start with The flat car with Spools. The stands pop off easily and I’ll reuse the spool ends for my water tanks ends, a section of 3" plastic pipe with batteries inside. If I can fabricate a simple die, I’ll stamp rivet heads into the metal flashing tape. Other wise I’ll just use the sewing set of pattern wheels… yes I forgot their name…
I love cutting up the 20’ cars, so side boards from a 20’ gon will be the goods section. I’ve collected the wooden barrels and drums from the Despot (IIRC) and will make stands to stack 'em up.
My thinking at the moment is to cut a side sill and make an entrance /exit to facilitate carrying sacks of foodstuffs. Who knows?
Found a napkin/p towel for the detailed sketch. Still looking for my pens…
Anybody know where I packed my motivation?
