Large Scale Central

MIKs 2015 Eric's Rookie build

On the old system I figured out how to post videos…sorry I lost my skills.

Here is a detail of the mechanism to move Moose’s legs

The steel wires are bent so that they snap over the cranks. they can be snapped off too so that moose can be removed from the tread mill

Here are the links that operate the legs the rear legs are controlled directly from the crank, the front legs are controlled by links from the rear. note that the links cross

Very very nice. I too noticed that posting vids is different now. We’ll have to get on the “learning curve” and figure out to post videos.

Very cool (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)- I love it!

Video imbedding is still not working AFAIK. Bob has it on the list.

If your video is hosted on YouTube or similar, you can just post a link, that’s what I am doing until things get sorted out. I still have to shoot my final video.

NEVERMIND I found the video on page 3, my Crack Science Ninja Team are now utterly besides themselves that they’re high tech solutions are being beaten by a guy with an axe and a moose.

Eric,

I bow to you my friend. This is just dang cool. Well done.

Wonderful! (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)

The croo is out for a spin on Moose’s chariot. It is cold and snowy…in fact the rails are laid atop the snow pack!

I too saw the video…incredible, whimsical and a lot of fun. Good Job!!

Tom

Thanks Guys! This whole project has been great fun!

I have been trying to get the video to actually show…no luck so far. Several edits have been a bust.

...nope

how about the code that another forum uses?:

http://youtu.be/c37lO5Sp-m4” …nope

Good thing Rookies have their own category…with the way your build is turning out, the rest of us are no doubt hoping Rookies aren’t eligible for Best In Show!

EDIT: I just watched the video. You must be kidding! It actually works! May I make one picky suggestion? Paint the exposed pine on the insides of the moose’s legs so the white pine color doesn’t show when the legs move.

MEANWHILE, IN MAINE

So, your sticking a fork in it and calling it done?

Be careful, moose don’t like being stuck with a fork.

You right! Moose do not like being stuck with a fork!!! But I was wondering how to make the horn for this contraption. Stick a fork in and I am sure you would hear a bellow or two! Might want to have the brake cranked down good and tight too unless break-neck speed is desired to out run certain red rover rockets!

That turned out terrific Eric! Ingenious on/off switch. Moose’s gate is just right with the speed of the tread mill. Really really cool.

Well I was having so much fun I couldnt just call it done…

The barrel had always been intended to contain Moose’s refreshment…now it is Rocket fuel ( Maine’s own “Moxie” ) This stuff should keep Moose’s leggs whirring along!

What moose can get along without a squirrel as a freind? this one is either steeling Moose’s Muffins or bringing him some…less a nibble or two of course!

I am not really dressed for Maine wintah’s so I thought it time to make a suitably attired driver:

Starting with the body

I guess a hat wouldnt be a bad thing…bald heads tend to loose heat quickly! but that all is for later…

Fantastic job Eric

That is a whacky face Vic!!! Thanks for sharing!

Very nice work!

I finished up with the lettering on the barrel and lashed it securely down so it wouldnt fly off as Moose struts his stuff!

Squirrel has taken on the Job of Fireman, keeping Moose well stoked with Muffins…less a few bites for himself!

Ok… the bald driver needed a hat…

That is white sculpy. I brushed on a little 90% rubbing alcohol to help bond on the hat…the alcohol dilutes the unbaked sculpy to make a paste.

a little acrylic paint helps a little too.

He is holding a stick with a muffin on it to encourage Moose to walk…this must be the "throttle to control forward progress!

Yep it’s a Forked Stick…DONE by proclamation!
