Great the Pig suddenly got self conscious “I don’t want that nice Randy guy looking at my dimpled knees!” My head aches… “I want long skirts”, she continued.
"OK ok I’ll get on it…
There will be no peeking!
Just a few litte things to go…

Oh Geez John, I didn’t want to give anyone a complex. Although, just between you and me she just looking more classy all the time.
This is fantastic John, really, really good. I love all the textures and all the colors and all the windows, the makeshift shapes fit together beautifully. Terrific job.
I have one suggestion if you don’t mind. I don’t think the black plastic roofs fit in. I would suggest texturing them in some way so they continue the various texture/color variation theme. Maybe get some athletic tape and imitate a cloth roof like they used to do and paint the “cloth” a dark grey. Paint the handholds a different color. Also I think some weathering/greying/dripping/rusting on the chimney stack would be the final touch.
It has a great feel to it.
It’s also a nice surprise…I didn’t see this coming from where you started. I like surprises!!
Masking tape layered makes an interesting texture similar to tar paper. just lay it on with minor overlaps and then spray it black
That’s a good one, Devon, I’ll have to remember that.
Thanks for your comments. Honestly I don’t know where it’s going either.
Part of the adventure is finding a dozen jars of dried up hobby paints and missing pigments…
I’ll pass on masking tape and my cool summers of triple digits, but now a quick cure with what’s on hand… texture or simulated texture? So many questions, so little time!
BTW that’s liver of sulfer (blacken it) on the exhaust pipe, the knuckle rust is burnt seinna artist acrylic, I’ve got to find the tube of raw for highlights.
John
Now that is using everything laying around nice job… though I can’t see the kitchen sink through the windows
It’s out back by the casting shop waiting for a turn with the Shrink-O-Matic ray.
The black roofs are gone, I’m half way into new roofwalks, but I timed out…
Hint … to patina or not.
John
Well… let me know what you think. This is a stripped down look show casing the roof.
Not finnised yet… unless I’m told other wise lol.
That’s it for now.
Dang nice John.
You’re finished Johnny! It’s briliiant. It all hangs together great.
If it were for sale, I’d buy it from you.
Just brilliant.
I love the copper roof! Can you tell us what you used for material and how you did it?
Many moons ago my scale was On3. As everything was scratchbuilt then I bulked up on building supplies. When I saw the effects of out doors on scale stuff I moved up to G ga.
From Builders in Scale, O scale;
Copper Ribbed Seam sheets 7 1/2" long x 6.7’ (O scale feet) or in my quick G24 a meter wide.
Real metal Part #718
I used gap filling super glue. I snipped along the ribs where it was bent down.
It’s sloppy good in the MIK way, I think.
Oh for the smoke jack, I hated the look of 8 crossed lines and their sharp little fingers pointing up. So I made a copper bowl, a 3/4" disc of copper placed over the 1/2" dapping half dome bowl. I used a 12 mm ball dap to form it.
I measured the smoke pipe and used a template to draw the circle off center, allowing for pitch. Then with my jeweler’s saw I cut out the circle by sawing in from the side. I used a abrasive point to clean the hole and then I polished the dome and finished the cut. I glued it together around the smoke jack for the clean look.

Just when you think you might be ready for the fork, a picture reveals a flaw… the smoke jack on the roof… needs paint desperately! (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-surprised.gif)
I didn’t like the old tank, I liked the rivets around the top of this cap, cut a third off the bottom and made a funky filler tube. Safety first! Move it away from the hot exhaust…
One set of pics to come…
John
You’re right about the smokestack, John…it wasn’t obvious in the other pictures. Think you can get it painted by the dealine? I wish that’s all I had left to do, man oh man.
Smoke jack painted … but pics must wait, it’s overcast this am and I must leave for a PT Scan this morning and then there’s the fountain pump to change out… maybe this afternoon I’ll get a pic taken…
John
Tools down, brain back at rest…
It’s the camera leanin’, really.
Battery died with the next attempt, now in shadows… But you can see the smoke jack has been painted. I studied cabeese stacks and added a continuous dismal under the hood to rationalize the rust and grime…
Been a fun build.
I hope a friend’s ego heals.
John
Looks great john
