Mik 2015 Challenge ... JC's CHFX2

We may not be sleek nor fast, but we have a potential draw bar pull of 6,000 to 7,000 pounds…

A Burro drive train, unsprung pedestal mounts… perfect for a truckless scrap box!

See ya slowly down the road… the cab was recycled street cars. Great visibility. I love the 4 corner markers.

John

Love it. Prototype whimsy. Waiting and watching.

That’s a cool MOW vehicle. Will be a fun build.

You are right it’s not pretty but it’s pretty unique.
These funky little railcar/ railtruck/ railthingies are really growing on me.

Looking forward to your build.

I could make an entire hoby of modeling unusual MOW equipment. I think I could make a hobby out of modeling just flangers.

I may knick that idea John, not for the challenge but well, because…just look at it

It’s an old home movie … of my beastie in action. First couple 3 minutes…

I have a donor mech and the kit arrived today. An aprox O ga. Scientific Toys battery toy train has volunteered for greatness. I opened the envelope and tossed the instructions, too restrictive.

To be continued…

I liked the home movie. That little critter is a strong puller.

Tom

I’ve been a gatherin’ parts…

John I can’t wait to see what you can do with this. This is a wood workers dream. Are you going to do real wood??? Oh I hope so

This beast has batteries and The Works! The red drivers get replaced with the smaller black wheels…

There is a2 C cell battery holder and even a smoke pump! Not sure how yet… But best of all the tender frame is a perfect match!

I almost get giddy seeing how close the match is… once I cut away the faux wheels and flip the spring hangars, you’ll see!

John its not the 14th restrain yourself ( I have resisted the urge to even gather. If I do I will want to build)

BTW why did you throw the crane pics in just to tease me

Devon, A lot of wood, yes… and some plastic too.

Mostly tho’ in the Spirit of Mik; found objects carry the most weight.

The train found me, a friend dropped it off last year…“you like trains, here”.

It had a burro drive train!

a burrito drive train??? is that methane powered then???

The cat in the bag wants me to do a stone cab… I have a lapidary shop and I picked up a sheet of those rough stone tiles … time will tell.

John

A stone cab… you have been reading the general store thread havent you. A stone cab… that is interesting.

Moi?

Influenced more by an older thread and those tiles being a close out item… that’s when some came home. I figure the short power cab would be too light without the low center of gravity burro steel.

Last year the build quality was high, I want to try to belong…

John

John, yes the builds last year were amazing. I knew early on, last year, that my gas station didn’t stand a snowballs chance in heck of winning. I doubt that my entry this year will stand a chance neither. But its nice to get projects off of my build list, and have some fun in a friendly competition.
