According to the weather service meteorological spring is here so say good-bye to winter and start posting pictures of the big thaw!

Yesterday the CVSRy brought out the heavy equipment and opened Deep Cut…

Today the CVSRy Shops equipped the camera car with LED lighting to enable inspection of Deep Cut Tunnel in preparation for Spring Operations…

The Inspection Train was called to originate at Wall and record the interior condition of the tunnel…

I like that camera inspector car. I once set up something like that to check for a bat that took up residence in my long tunnel.
does your tunnel end at freds’ vault?

I could post an official thaw photo but we are expecting a few inches tonight. Winter isn’t over yet.

Thanks Todd - Yes. The tunnel is a dead end. Somewhere here there is an extensive build thread. It will probably be here after man is long gone.

@Richard - I’ve had that High Hood for quite a long time. It usually only comes out to play on the plow train.

By the way we have the so called meteorological spring in the UK. There was a time when they blandly anounced it was first day of spring but they got so many complaints and a backlash that they now emphasize it is a meteorological first day.

Ken - I’m sorry Mother Nature won’t stop picking on you. We dodged the bullet up in New England yesterday. You can have it - we have had enough. Still very cold (14F this AM) but the sun is super strong. Even with the cold we are loosing snow pack every day where not in shadow. On Saturday I didn’t need to clean the points / switch machine at Deep Cut - the sun melted it all away soon after being uncovered.

BTW - If you see that groundhog, shoot him for me!

Nice pictures and video Jon. I wish Spring would hurry up. The advantage Ken has over us is, the snow he gets today will be gone faster then what we still have on the ground now lol… Im very glad we dodged the bullet with this one. As for Spring, doesn’t feel or look like it. Its 11 degrees and this is my layout currently.

Don’t shoot the messenger. Ric suggested that if we stop posting in the Snow thread that the snow would stop. I just hope he is right!

Moonshine? I didn’t see that. Need to go look again. Next time I need to connect the lights to an independent battery so they stay on the whole time. Also will increase the number of LED modules for a Daylight effect.
