MBTA 1011 (F40PH)

Thanks Joe!

Here’s the full album thus far: MBCR Project

And one more shot from last night’s improvements.

I suppose its rather strange that I have the pre-1990’s RDC consist, but the post 9/11 paint scheme on the engine…But, I like what I like, so the fictional history will follow my lead.

I see she has a fuel tank mocked up!

Lookie here!

It’s alive!!!

Jeff you did an incredible job! Keep it up!

Shut Up Rooster!

two of my favorites! Those Abrams on flats look great too!

I’ve got to get busy and build somethin’. Stupid flu hit again.

You should be proud to complete a project like that. Most guys wouldn’t even have attempted it. Some, even knock you for trying.???

Beautiful job. My list of what to build keeps growing.

Looks good, thanks Sean for the video, it’s all over Facebook now, lol

Joe, how about a SW-1500, lol

Thanks guys! It was nice to see Sean again, and also nice to finally meet Todd Haskins and Richard Beverly. We had a lot of fun on the NHGRS layout, hope to see some more folks join us next year to make it larger and larger.

Saturday night I got some of the lighting hooked up…including the cab car makers and headlamps. The train ran well in both push and pull mode!

Thanks again, Mark for doing a great job on the 3D printing. There were a bunch of people who were really impressed with the technology!

It was nice to meet you too Jeff and you did a fine job on that T train.

Your F40 looks awesome. Nice Job.

3d printing sure intrigues me. Especially for a loco project on my to do list…narrow gauge US Army 4700N as used on the D&RGW. I have scale plans, so that’s sort of a start (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Thought I would share a little progress on the MBTA service on the RCRR. The 1011 and her RDCs are running great! I recently installed RailBoss4 for RC. An awesome feature ofthis system is the automatic station stops triggered by track magnets. Now I need to add station platforms to all my station stops, and each one will require at least one of these nifty brass signs I soldered up tonight.

Below is a video of the auto station stops in action with 2 trains

All you need are the rock guards!

mbcr 1011 in 2010

Turns out the bars came down for some reason in 2010 (a few years after its Pan Am rebuild/repaint).

So when RCRX/NHRTA pulled 1011 out of the woods in Billerica last year, this is what we got. The Budds that came down from Lincoln, NH, of course, needed a bit more paint work.

…that’s the storyline anyways!

What I do see in your photo that I really need are marker lights! I will be adding a three conductor harness throughout the whole train to provide directional lighting to the loco and cab car. RB4 can also handle automated Push-Pull…so that’s in the future for sure.

Hi Jeff. Like the sign. Looks great!

Well done… (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

Loco came out great .

So, if that’s the story, then how come the locomotive went from pink, in the prototype photo, to purple in your photo? Huh?

I am not a diesel-electric fan, but that is one sharp looking diesel-electric thingy.

Jeff… That is a very nicely done train… I sure like the “unit” trains all made up as you’ve done this one. Thumbs up all the way…

I don’t care much for the window screens either

Thanks guys! I appreciate all the kind words and encouragement!

I love how she turned out. I really hope we see this type of body kits offered to the masses in the near future. The Alco HH660 that Mark has printed for himself is of great interest to me as it would handle my tight curves with ease. I would love to see a nice GP7/9 low hood cab/hood kit offered to low nose the USA GP’s and I would pop the funds for a 1:32nd scale one for a Lionel Geep for a project I am planning, actualy 2 of them would be needed. Keep the pics coming as you make more enhancements. Are you going to attempt the window grill bars? Those really set the era of the engine if your looking for the 1980’s look. I remember those being on the windshields of the F40’s that took me and my dad to Chicago when I was 6 yrs old. I got a cab tour once we got to Chicago and remember those when looking out the front.
