Hey David, maybe if you go to some weddings, you can collect come more columns and build a scale Athens temple. That would look good on the layout.

Now that would be a neat idea for the challenge next year. We all have to build a ruin for our layouts.

I wonder how the Pantheon would look in a sleeping logging village in mountains of the west?

Edit oops I didnt mean the Roman Pantheon I meant the Greek Parthenon. The Pantheon is nice looking also.

Why stop their build the coliseum. Take up as a wedding crasher

Been there done that however the requirements were 12"X24" so it was rather small.

Edited because the build I helped with was technically “Circus Maximus” but it was done with coroplastic for a base

Right now my railroad is a ruin. Something hit my bridge, breaking 2 of the beams and bending a brass rod. My derrick has taken a hit also, and needs repaired. And then there is the winter water/snow damage that occurs.

The Early Years

Update;

I have caught my mom’s flue. Its all I can do to go to work. If I am not at work, I am probably sleeping. I hope to get back to the build this weekend.

Geez, a double whammy! I’m not sure which Id rather have happen to me, the flu or to have a few of my prize structures get the business from the local fauna. Hope you get better soon David.

Hope you get better soon, David.

Maynard? Maynard? Where are you?

Hope you’re feeling better. Modelling is said to be the best cure for any illness you know (assuming you can still move, the flu is bad!).

Guys, I haven’t been following much here on LSC. And I have been doing very little with my bank building. It seams that most of my free time is now spent sleeping. The flu symptoms have abated quite a bit, although I still get chills and the occasional hot flash, its just mostly fatigue that I have now. So, with regrets, I am going to put the bank build on a shelf, and finish it sometime in the future.

I look forward to all of the other builds. Many of them were quite amazing the last time I checked on them. Maybe next year I won’t end up this sick during the challenge.

Flu stinks no doubt, I get a flu shot religiously now every year. I haven’t had the flu since, but I still get colds and sinus infections, which are often just as awful and debilitating. Take it easy till you feel better, pushing yourself when your sick often just makes it even worse and last longer.

I was wondering if you’d get well soon enough, too bad. Some cake gave up it’s decorations for you… (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cry.gif)Oh woe!

Hope I made you smile.

John

David,

I feel ya. I was only sick one and a half days (yesterday and today). Missed work yesterday and stayed home. The thought of doing anything but laying in bed and sleeping was a waste of energy. Several time I thought i would venture to the man cave, sat up, laid back down and slept again.

So ia m sorry to hear you have been battling this for a while. Praying you get better.

Glad to see you are feeling somewhat better. Missed your commentary. Hope you fully recover soon and get back to doing the things you enjoy.

Well that just sucks. Hopefully you’ll recover in time to make a few smart-alecky remarks and criticisms on the rest of our builds. Challenge be damned I’m looking forward to seeing the finish of the bank building.

p.s., finished or not, you still win first-place award for:

"The Most Creative Use of a Found Object Which Should Have Been Thrown Out Years Ago"

Oh David (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-frown.gif)Health and restoration to you.

John, LOL. My piles of “supplies” are just chocked full of “what the heck is this?” type items.

So, to make things even better, we had a snow storm last night. My mom got home at 11:30 pm and informed me that she had to walk home because her car was stuck 3 blocks away. When we went to check on the car, in my Jeep, a police officer told me that if I didn’t get the car moved, it would be impounded. Then my mom fall down in the snow covered street, so I brought her back home in the Jeep. Yes, she is fine. Finally, after 1:30 am, the snow plow/salt truck went up our street, so I walked to my mom’s car, dug it out, and carefully drove it home on the path the truck had cleared. So I only went to bed at 2 am, so that I could get up at 5:30 am, and go to work. And today I ended up driving to Erie through several snow squalls. After not getting enough sleep last night, then driving about 7 hours today, I am planning on sleeping in on Saturday as long as I can.

Yes, I do want to finish the bank project in the spring. I am tired of looking at all the empty lots where my town should be.

Geez David when life gives you lemons I guess you open a produce store.

Devon, its all a matter of perspective. To some people they may be lemons, but they are also citrus fruit. I don’t usually get too upset about my hobby anymore. It would be nice if I had the time to do all the things I want done. But, life gets in the way. Now that I have Devoned this project, I can heckle the rest of Yunz from the sidelines.

And Oh yea, I am starting to feel a bit better. But I am still sleeping more then I used to. And that made the guy in the blue car mad. I dunno why? Its not like we were going to make it through the intersection when the light turned green. (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-undecided.gif)
