It’s too early for winter Shawn. That sucks. I’m still growing tomatoes in the garden although they are covered with clear poly.

Batten down the hatches…fire up the generator…throw another log on the fire…pack up the babies and grab the old ladies…whoops, wrong event…

We’ve had heavy snow in October once in the 30 years I’ve lived in Connecticut. It was a real mess with leaves still on the trees with lots of branches and trees down from it. Our forecast isn’t quite so severe, but there is snow coming tonight and more on Saturday night. BAH HUMBUG :frowning:

Snowing here now temp 36 and sticking at the higher elevations. We usually get one snow storm every Oct. But not 6 inches. Usually 1-2 inches.

This is what you get when the planet goes into a global cooling cycle. The temperature has been dropping consistently since 1995 when the sunspots started dissappearing. Many reputable scientists have been warning for decades that we are nearing the end of the 11,500-year average period between ice ages. And the last similar crash in sunspot activity coincided with the so-called “Little Ice Age” in the 1600s that lasted nearly a century. Check out iceagenow.info. If the sun goes into a full Maunder Minimum, we will have not have seen anything yet.

Wasn't we promised Glow Ball War Ming? Just askin'.

Well we have a Red Flag fire warning with hot/dry Santa? Ana windsare starting yesterday.

It’s all my fault, I got my season pass for the XC trails yesterday and I can hardly wait 'til it really snows! :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:

Please don't. Bob has an endless supply of Threadlock ;) Ralph

The red flag/santa ana warning was a dud. If we (Southern Calif) stay dry and get another round in a week or two, then we may have a significant fire event. I am just praying its a quiet weekend during the Pomona show.

Shawn, hopefully you get as much or less than we did yesterday in W Ny. Just a dusting in the valleys and enough to make the mountains around here “frosted”. Of course most folks need to re-learn to drive on slippery roads as I was headed into town last night someone hit a bridge that was slippery and lost it. Costly reminder as they were taken away in an ambulance.

I was outside trying to get some things buttoned up for the winter but did not finish by bedtime. Got a lot of the things picked up outside though. Still need to wrestle the deck furniture into the shed though. A full trailer of things I don’t need anymore going to the transfer station on Saturday though. Feels good!

Chas

We had an amazing run of 80 degree days in Minnesota, got a lot done on the railroad as a result. Very rare for October! Of course now the temps have gone into freefall, getting cold and windy! Track laying will have to wait until spring.

Looks like we will get the 5 to 8" of wet snow here in Western Connecticut too. I’m preparing for extended power outages as the trees still have lots of leaves here.

Looking at the bright side, temps will moderate into the 60’s later next week. Official Indian Summer

Calling for 6" to 10" here…ye haa…I’ll be at the local museum setting up the seasonal train display (Lionel) so I guess the wife will have to shovel

Hey Jon, I like the one about Indian Summer.  Bring on the SNOW and let her rip!

Looks to be around 60F and sunny here this weekend
I’m not complaining one bit

Winter storm warnings now for 8-14 inches. Going to be a great day working tomorrow. Have to bring my cross country skiies with me. At least if i loose power this time will have my generator and wood stove.

Yuck. Local media is predicting major disaster…

Went to the hobby store tonight to get parts to keep me busy while hiding from the snow. We also picked up French Toast fixins while we were out. Tomorrow morning I’ll stock up on generator gas.
