Logging Camp

The crew took advantage of the nice weather and got the bunks loaded up on some flat cars. Operations went smooth and everything was put in place with no problems. Bunks loaded up at the Hainsville yard. The guys are just waiting for Mr Russel to wake up so they can get the train moving.

Bunks arrived on location at Camp Kittatinny.

Steam Donkey pulling bunks into place

Bunk houses are put into place.

Break time. Tough day for the guys but now they have a place to relax when opperations start back up.

A birds eye view from the fire tower

Spar tree/loader was put up. Next the guys have to work on the skid road so they can pull logs from the cutting area to the loader.

The new extention to the logging spur. Eventually this will lead into a new cutting area.

Coming up to the end of the logging spur extention

Heading back to the yard with empty flats

It’s great to see “instant” progress! Chop chop!

Shawn, looks wonderful…

Real nice Shawn. Pics and scenes look great, but I have to say

Looks like the red light district. Where are the girls.

Ya know…you get entirely too much done in entirely tooooooo short a time…but I’m enjoyin it anyway!!

Youth is wasted on the young.

Wonderful.
So how did the crew get the camp cars off the flats?

Wonderful pics Shawn, enjoyable and full of interest and information. Far better than a book could convey!

Shawn

Nifty looking layout and you have done very well with the logging stuff.

Cheers, TOF in Hawaii

The bunk houses look so cool.
The “scenes”, fun as always
Ralph

I think Shawn just mis-reported the order of work. They erected the Spar first, then used it to lift the cabins off the flats :)

Looks great Shawn. I’m looking forward to seeing it. Sunday weather looks promising

That really looks nice, Shawn. No wonder you did so well in the contest! Great work.

Thanks guys. Its always nice to hear what everyone else thinks. Im not very good at judging my own work. Jon looking forward to having you over this Sunday. Bring something to run. Maybe that live steamer of yours. Back on the RR the guys started to lay some timber for the new skid road. Still have to get some new harnesses for the ox to attach to the logs. Weather started out wet from thunderstorms last night. As soon as the ground dries work will continue.

During some track inspection the guys found the old log car that wrecked during one of the snow storms. Its in good shape but too much work to get it out of Red Rock

Does that old wreck have metal wheels? Those should be salvaged.

LOL those are the bachmann small wheels. The plastic wont fit on those trucks. Nothing beats real metal.
