Large Scale Central

Locomotive Work Cradle

Pete,

I did the same. No reply from him. (https://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-frown.gif)

Well, he may be a great carpenter but his online presence seems a bit lacking. I sent an email which probably ended up in his spam. He hasn’t replied to the post here with any photos.

Would someone who communicates with him tell him I want to buy something??

Dan still works, so he may have other priorities. I’ll send him a note.

Not everyone lives and breathes LSC (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)I can surely understand that, I personally have enough difficulty getting people to use email instead of private messaging.

Greg

What have you got against PM’s (other than it stands for premenstrual syndrome)?(https://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-kiss.gif)

Too restrictive in terms of content, ability to reply, forward, etc, not archived with other email, too many extra places to check on a daily basis, do not send a separate notification to the desktop, etc.

Other than that, they are great…

Surest way to break the horns/bells/top details/side rails/etc…, but a necessary evil.

I still have an original from the Queen Mary shows.

Yes, you must be careful.

But, I have never damaged a horn, the deep foam takes care of that.

Also, the picture of mine with the steam loco shows the open ends allow you to stick one end out, so details on the top of steam locos can normally be positioned to be “outside” the cradle.

That’s why the open end shape works so well, as opposed to the “pocket” referenced in the Piko video.

Greg

I second Dans work. I have one of his original carriers and a cradle, use them both often

Awhile back I thought of making a 3d printed design similar to this one from hobbyking

https://hobbyking.com/en_us/hobbyking-large-size-heavy-duty-model-stand.html

My thought was it could double as a paint stand by adjusting the “calipers” to hold a the shell from the inside.

You west coast boys done picking apart and critiquing stuff? If you don’t like what’s available then " build your own" so the east coast guys can bitch about it and pick it apart !

Would be much faster to laser cut this out of 3/8" acrylic.

Hey guys, sorry about the confusion. Pete Thornton, I attempted to post some pics of my engine cradles but obviously it didn’t work. Thanks to Gary Armitstead for showing the one I made for him. Joe Zullo, I haven’t received an e-mail from you so far. I will see if my son can help me with my technology issues.

True Todd, but much cheaper with my 3d printer and I don’t have a laser. Yet. (https://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

Dan,

Sent you email yesterday to this address [email protected] that was listed in this thread. (https://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-undecided.gif)

Dan, all we need is the basic information. Size, shipping cost and where to send a check!

The email address I have for Dan is: [email protected]

i think the other address is his wife’s email.

Dan may have technology issues, but his skill with wood is awesome! I always admired his work!

Pictures?
