Yep, Stan must have been “Hacked” because I got the same e-mail but I just deleted it.
I got one too , just deleted it. Thanks Tac !
Jeeze, we don’t need TWO threads on this… in fact we don’t need any… I thought it was a forum rule/convention to not report scams (because there are so many of them).
Greg
o.
didn’t know there was another thread, me.
sorry.

No worries. Greg didn’t need to say what he said, either. He just got carried away.
I understand Tac, but if you had looked at the general forum where you posted, Ray’s post on this exact subject was one hour before yours, i.e. it must have been the first or close to the first thread on the General forum… so honestly, if you looked at the forum before you posted, you would have seen it, and you could have added to it (or not duplicated the information).
And, I don’t NEED to say anything Steve you are right. But since the forum is self-policing (by request of the owner), a standard rule is not to post anything like this in the first place. It’s pretty much a rule on every forum I’m on or have.
Not to chastise, but lately there’s been a ton of threads started where people did not read first. It takes the forum away from being informative and searchable later. It’s towards a better forum. We experienced people should set the standard for the newbies.
Regards, Greg
I am suitably chastised and shamed by my ineptitude.
Put it down to old age and general infirmity.

Ottawa Valley, uh, whatever…
I often suffer from the same “Condition”, Terry…I find that a dram or three of Laphroaig Whisky, tends to dull the pain. Others have their own cures, that when taken in moderation, can bring out the best in ones’ self.
Fr.Fred…taster of holy water, for humanity…
I’m being held hostage in an Austrian LGB factory whereby the basis for my release is to confess I know how to open an early production Stainz loco. I’m holding on and in spite of the torture of watching over-and-over-and-over the video of the young LGB “scientist” garbed in a white smock running a Stainz loco into an aquarium.
Meanwhile…
Tac, you are a most positive contributor to this site - don’t be tough on yourself for such an understandable error.

I think this thread just took a sharp turn into the bizarre. (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-surprised.gif)
Now I can relate to this thread. (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)(http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)

Greg,
Maybe I have misunderstood Bob’s intentions, but I take “self policing” to mean I am supposed to “police” myself.
Not, I am supposed to “police” other members.
Maybe I’m wrong…
Ralph
Read Bob’s statements on this, and witness the recent reputation system, etc. I believe you will get the answer if you read them.
Just exactly what is so heinous about the following post that someone (hi mista b or joe) decided to ding me rep points? We don’t need 2 threads on this, and I’m pretty sure that at some time reporting scams and viruses, etc. was not “kosher”. It surely is not on the rest of the forums I’m on… Greg

Greg
P.S. Joe, I liked you sending me a private message and then blocking me from replying… the answer is that I was referring to your meltdown when you were posting giant childish gifs…
Well I see two things here that I want to bring into view. One I see self policing as policing our own self and also politely encouraging others when they go astray by either using the rep system or gentile and polite private message. In other words we are not to run to Bob every time someone posts something we don’t like. We handle it amongst our self. Which I believe is occurring here.
Now on the flip side of this while I certainly understand not blanketing the site with bunch of posts about scams and what not; however in this case since an email is being sent to members of the site seemingly by another member of the site this to me seems appropriate. I for one would rather someone error on reporting such a pointed and directed scam than not report it and have one of our members fall for it (although in this case I wold wonder about the person that did fall for this one).
Just my.02
Without a long Active topics page, good for maybe 25-40 threads, having more copies of important messages isn’t so bad. I rarely open the forums, instead I check the home page often. That keeps me up to date with current topics, but not those that have been shuffled off the page between last time and this.

Self Policing?
Mom said it best;
“If you can’t say something nice, then don’t.”

What’s not nice about my first post?
I can see what’s not nice about Steve’s post about me, “carried away”, upping the ante so to speak…

Greg,
I for one didn’t see any problem with your post. You kinda have a style which is abrupt which some might find abrasive but you simply pointed out some facts laced with opinion/preference. Nor did I find anyone’s response to it (even Steve’s) all that bad. While I disagree with you about its relevance on the forum, I believe your well within bounds with your comments. Its just your style, I guess.
