The postings that I simply adore are the postings on a popular English forum, where every second poster claims that they know all the relevant facts, but out of professional courtesy will not dislose such facts. Professional courtesy demands that you would not even highlight that knowledge in the first instance. The only people ‘with the facts’ are keeping very quiet and trying to keep everyone else quiet as well. Eventually facts come to light and it is usually an insider who spills the beans. The volume of rumours so far, has this tight little ship as waterproof as a flour sieve, like their arguments - full of holes. Who will be the first ‘whistle blower’?
HJ,
recently a major manufacturer halted release of a now popular diesel, for unspecified reasons. Within days, the rumour mill was rife, citing all manner of possible production problems. To their credit, the company immediately nipped the rumour mill in the bud and stated that a minor warping problem had occurred with the truck sideframes and that they were correcting the problem before releasing the locomotive. Now, these are the actions of a highly reputable company - full disclosure. No doubt many would have been impressed with their integrity. How many times has the modellor, in general, become the ‘beta’ tester for a manufacturing problem that should have been corrected on the production line?

nevermind..read what I was asking bout elsewhere
I originally asked Bob when he was going to post the latest on the insolvency (all bids being rejected) here on LSC, but then I read the latest over on the BTOC, so I edited the original post. Since I cant -line-thru- text, I just erased the question, and should have said:
Nevermind this post, the question I had was answered by reading it on another forum source.
Tim Brien said:Yes Tim, I like that one, too.

Reminds me of a German Forum where similarly evasive innuendo gets posted. Very titillating but not … Better to stick to what hits the papers etc. and translate that.
But since LSC’s latest original text and translation were quite frequently linked from that forum, it just put a smile on my face. As did the question “Why do they get at the News before we do?” - well, there is an advantage to being in the PST timezone.
Today’s a Holiday in Germany - Pentecost Monday - no newspaper, no News … or at least I haven’t seen any on the Saga.
PS I just had my laugh of the week, no it won’t get better, but I can’t tell where it was, it’s “verboten”!
Tim- You ever peruse the family fued forum?
Seems that a week ago negotiations were at some critical stage, and the poster told the loyal faithful not to make comments.
You noticed it was a fairly quiet week except for some that don’t want to read anything that isn’t part of their fixed understanding?
And you’re right.
No matter what anybody “knows” or doesn’t, whether it’s published, back-channel, or whatever, we just have to wait for one or two of the “select group” to spill the beans.
You would not believe the number of times since this began that questions have a risen where one piece of information was lacking, and we just waited, and sure enough, one of the “select group” spilled it.
Just keep asking questions.
You’ll never know who will pop up with the answer.
Dave,
I have enough fun just reading the ‘mainstream’ forums without venturing to the comic book forums, like family fued, the family that only has a one-sided argument and always agrees with the outcome, a true republican democracy at work (or play). Was directed to the family fued forum by a colleague as regards the latest load of old cobblers. I think that I will henceforth refer to the family as the ‘coalition of the willing’ as in their fight they have lost respect for the very values of their intial argument to support the company, led by a president feeding them his version of the truth. It seems that the very vocal loyal supporter is now branding all ‘anti-manufacturer specific’ distractors as having never purchased a product from that company. Funny how I always believed that the discussion was to do with how the company arrived at its present insolvent position and had nothing to do with the quality of the product or whether one had actually purchased a product from that company. Funny how the spin doctors spin the story to stir the emotions and sway debate from the actual story. Now the head spin doctor is revered by the coalition of the willing as the saviour and that he alone will arise the phoenix from the ashes. Who actually lit the flame in the first instance to get us at this current situation (and got their fingers burned)?
Once again the saga reminds me of the Monty Python film, 'Life of Brian'. The scene has the masses all proclaiming 'He is the Messiah, he is the Messiah'. When pressed to express themselves with individual thought, the mass hysteria takes over and the crowd once again proclaims in unison, the coming of the messiah. Davi... sorry Brian's mum, after just seeing him do a very naughty thing, proclaims, "He is not the Messiah, he is just a naughty boy!".
Tim,
Yeah, I like the “reasoning”, too.
Of course we had the big “Pre-Christmas buy to support the company” campaign. Not a trace of a thought given the fact that whatever the dealers were peddling had long been paid for and wouldn’t show up on the balance sheet of the “Motherhouse”.
Must have been a new version of “Economics 101” that a lot of us business types hadn’t heard about.
Same goes for the assumption of not having bought the product. Since I fall into the “LGB Purchasers” category, I am a very careful purchaser :), I bought all my xxx engines second hand. Seven engines at a fraction of the new price and not a cent of my money paid for those engines went to the “Motherhouse”, same goes for many, if not most, of my cars from the same source.
On “Life of Brian”, I need to watch all that once more and pay really close attention, however the highlight of that spoof - at least for me - was the closing. I’ve been mulling an adaptation of “Always look on the bright side of life” with appropriate lyrics.
Holy Frack…You guys are unbelievable …Hasn’t Bob made it clear enough ? If you can;t say something nice about someone DON:T SAY ANYTHING, I personally have had enough of this CRAP! And don’t give me the “If you don;t like it, don;t read it BS…” I HAVE to wade through this crap every day to see if theres something particularly relative to my world, if nothing more to get rid of the NEW tag, either that or hit the CHECK ALL AS READ button and wait while theserver sorts through all 997,000 posts…I’m a charter member, I have a RIGHT to read through the forums without this malarky! I bet YOU are the guy that Farts at a party and blames it on your wife… Everyone is tired of YOUR petty bickering yes I’m talking to YOU STOP IT, ENUFF! I find YOU annoying!
** In the Above posting YOU is referring to YOU…if you’re not offended by it…you probably not guilty as charged Have a Nice Day…if you are offended by it GOOD!! Next Time…I’m naming names…
HJ,
the ‘Life of Brian’ is a parody on the western world in true Monty Python fashion. The series and the many movies made by the group are not to be missed. Sometimes the humour is a little ‘intellectual’, but for the most part it is all good fun. History of the World is also quite funny, although Life of Brian is probably their best effort, but usually needs several viewings to get most of the jokes. There are those who see no humour in any of the Monty Python series, but then life is not as kind to some as to others.

Yes, Vic! I remember that line quite well. Used it (slightly modified :0 ) for some time after watching that spoof. Another favourite of mine: “It’s tough to be the Bürgermeister.”
Another line from history of the World - Part 3, has the king walking through a field, surrounded by peasant field workers. One peasant says to the other, “That is the king”. The other replies “How do you know that that is the king”. Replies, “It must be the king, he bathes once a year”.
One of the earlier movies has the black plague epidemic in London. A body collector is pulling a cart of dead bodies, victims of the plague, through the streets of London, calling out, “Bring out your dead, bring out your dead”. He stops at a house and a resident brings a body out and places it on the cart. Next moment the collector sees a movement on the cart. “Hold on he is not dead”. The householder, looking perplexed, enquires when the collector will be back this way. The collector replies, not until next Thursday. Next moment the householder pulls out a staff and whacks the helpless victim, on the trolley, over the head. “Now he is dead”. The collector moves away shouting, “Bring out your dead, bring out your dead”. This is classic Monty Python humour. You either like it or you don’t.

I love the last line after the vid cuts out. Arthur passes the pair, one says
“whos that then?”
“must be a King”
“why?”
“he hasn’t got shit all over him”
Just for the true Python fans…

I really really like YouTube
Vic,
Where, oh where will I find the time to watch all those movies??
I have waded thru this stuff and am reminded of a couple of my late father’s favorite sayings:
-
There are two sides to every story, and the truth generally lies somewhere in between!
-
Don’t get caught in a pissing match with a skunk, cause you’ll never win!
After reading this drivel it may well be another 3 months before I return.

In three months you could be just in time to read what didn’t happen. That is strictly based on what has been prognosticated … so far it has mostly been “next week”.
Which is just like the Italian’s “domani, domani”, always just a day away!
Now what will be much more interesting: when will we see the first item that has been designed, tooled and produced by LGBoA (post LGB)? Let’s hope it isn’t going to be like “Windows NT” many years ago, we used to call that “Not There” for quite some time.
Interesting that after a monthy after Bob put the kaputz on the topic, someone with only 4 previous posts puts up what could be interpreted as a hostile post
Sorry but aint biting.
As has been said throughout all this, no one has put a gun to anyones head to read it, no one will be tested on this subject, and the reader is free to stop and click onto something else at any given time…
My late dad had a couple of good sayings to…he said the usual “dont have anything good to say, dont say anything” He also said,
“Son, never throw a punch at a redwood”
