John,
or should that be ‘doubting Thomas’, sometimes one simply needs to have faith and simply believe. If LGBoA had of been successful in their tender bidding (I am not really sure that they actually wanted the whole shebang, in the first instance, as they always came up a few Euro short of the winning tender bid - strike 3, your out!), then no doubt production would have commenced immediately, as the infrastructure was already established in China. That of course would rely on outstanding accounts being settled with the Chinese manufacturers for unpaid tooling.
As you wish to propogate this discourse further, then money flowed freely when lawyer Jacob, unsuccessful at the tender bid, purchased the share of LGBoA held by publicist, Dave. Did Jacob know something the rest of us were not privy to? No conspiracy theory, just questioning the business transactions surrounding the failure of EPL. The sacrificial lamb was lead to the slaughter in 2007 to get him out of the way (a simple partnership could have had EPL in the hands of LGBoA for most likely a lot less than Marklin eventually coughed up), then the boys thought we are going to pick up a bargain. The bargain ended up being too costly and a seemingly half-hearted attempt to secure the ownership of the company, resulted in the fiasco we have today. I personally wanted LGBoA to be successful, as they, in my opinion, were the natural inheritors of the empire. I am prepared to await the outcome with Marklin leadership, but to me, it is like a ship with the wind taken out of its sails. I am losing interest as even though the products will look the same they really are not 'original' LGB. The mystique of LGB was not simply the product, but the atmoshere created with its loyal workforce and strong quality control business ethics. This cannot be recreated in today's society.
