Hey Marvin, didn’t I tell you a million times before that you shouldn’t exaggerate like that?
Super customer relations from the San Diego guys, eh? Pity, 'cause people will remember that; everyone except the most rabid Ventilators!

Marvin, Among all the other things you should attend to, gotta brush up on that German. You never know when you’ll have to post an appeal on a German forum.

Will They charge to fix the Mikado I wonder. Since it was a first generation problem ?
The LGB service center in San Diego is closed. Send it to Marklin. They own the company now.

If so surely they are still responsible for all things LGB?
The LGB of America offices are closed.
Distribution rights do not include responsibility for repair and warranty service - that falls on the manufacturer. Create as many conspiracy theories as you guys like -the fact of the matter is the only way to get LGB repaired now is through the manufacturer (Marklin).
That would be my take on the situation.

Not worth the bother, rights and responsibilities are two entirely different matters.
OTOH it is possible that the responsibilities are being abrogated since there are no rights. Remember: Why would one have to arrive at a distribution agreement if one holds the distribution rights that apply to the goods to be distributed?? Where’s that logic??
Now we just wait for one of Marvin’s many personas to pour out the business acumen, could be interesting.

Thought for the day!!
Wonder how much longer Kingsbridge Captial is going to let Marklin loose 35 mil a year because they can not sell in NA??

Silvergate still lists LGB as one of their product lines, it just makes no sense for me that someone can sell items, but can't service them. I know you listed the LGB/Maerklin service center, but the question is how customer friendly, cost effective or realistic that would be. LGBoa which is today Silvergate, same folks, same inventory, just different place and name, this folks made for years good money selling all this LGB stuff to me and other customers. now the same folks closed the service center, and refer all inquiries to Germany, which is absolutely unrealistic. For me the oxymoron is, that the same firm still tries to continue to sell G-Scale stuff to the same customers, which might be unhappy in the first line.

Even if the whole deal went down legally, customers might use a different view, a different way to judge things. For my part i feel like i am let down, and the consequences are that i avoid to buying anything which comes from San Diego.

If EPL had a total turnover of 20million Euro worldwide (last year for which they released figures and everything was “just peachy”!), that would mean approx. 8 million for NA. Using normal arithmetic that would mean 4+ years … nah don’t worry it won’t be that long.
To put “attitude” into perspective have a read!
PS I’m sure the Märklin strategy has been well planned und discussed at length - not in the fora, that’s why some/all of us are at a “constant loss”.

Marvin didn’t list anything, he just hasn’t learned yet how to use the quote function properly. OTOH some of us also refer to him as Marvin the Plagiarist, he’s got a real knack for “things”.
On the “ver piss dich”, not to worry. Consider where it’s coming from and it will be zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz tsibü zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz tsibü.

Vic,
Sure sounds like it, chances of ever getting a distribution deal? Looks like they are moving well below ZERO.

HJ In my opinion I interpret that Silvergate “conversation” this way, CUT AND RUN, they are casting adrift everything past/present related to LGB and going with their own distribution line. IOWs all them long time loyal LGB customers can now just bloody well go sod off and ship there stuff back to Germieland for repairs as far as they are now concerned, IMHO mind you. This could be interpreted as being either very childish or it could be interpreted as the closest public equivelent we’ll ever hear about to a ‘cease and desist’ order about being involved with any past/current or future LGB products, in just my humble opinion mind you…

My crystal ball…
LGBoA will end up being sold back to Marklin for a small sum.
Silvergate’s LGB inventory will end up being discounted to somewhere like Trainworld.
They won’t shift much at the prices on the Silvergate website and who would buy from people who can’t undertake warrantee work when the product goes wrong? Hence the value of the stock will have to reduce because there are no longer any services attached.
