LGB Price Increase

It has been reported that an 8% price increase on LGB which will take effect Feb 1, 2007 in North America.

Seems about right. Aristo is going for a 5% increase in March. USAT doesn’t announce price increases they just slip them in.

With the cost of everything going up, like the fuel increases of the last couple of years and now even minimum wage prices on the rise, I would imagine that everything will be going up. Hell, we’ll soon be paying $10.00 for a happy meal. Kinda makes you wonder where it will all end, doesn’t it?

Hmmmmmmmmmmm a 5% increase on an Aristo sticker is probably a lot less than 8% on a LGB sticker.

Now if I could find that elusive Amfleet car before Feb 1st.

Hans-Joerg Mueller, you said -

Hans, I’ve seen it in person and it is very nicely done. Almost, but not really, makes me want to come out of the dark shadows of the American narrow gauge.

Ric,

I guess I have to call Ridge Road on Monday. When I checked today it was still “backordered” on their site.

BTW I had a chuckle: in one forum someone asked which “modern” passenger cars to buy. Considering that Amfleets date back to the 70’s, sure makes me wonder when we’ll get some “modern” stuff.

This is ran by the “Bosses” of G45…or LGBoA.

Hmmmmmmmmm … interesting.

RRStations price is better and I don’t want anything shipped by UPS.

BTW there is no mention anywhere on that site - at least I can’t find it - of who owns that company, what their mailing address is or any of that “fine stuff” that I dearly like to know before I do business with someone. I’m kind of old-fashioned that way.

Probably for obvious reasons that I mentioned previously.

It also appears that they have already applied the 8% price increase…:frowning:

Who knows! The one thing I know: it will be a very, very frosty day in July when I buy from "Spotted Deer" ;) :D

Hmmm…“Spotted Deer”, huh?
I don’t order from any on-line vendor that lists every thing that LGB (or any other manufacture) makes and does not say if it is in stock. They prolly have one or two items on the shelves.
RRStation gets 100% of my Internet business now-a-days. (After I check with my two local dealers). RRStation lists whether it is in stock, they follow up with a phone call if there was a problem, etc, etc.
Besides, Spotted Deer is way over priced.

John,

Same here: excellent service from RRS, landed cost (including all the taxes) is as a rule less than the Canadian sources. And never a mix-up so far.

On that website… WHOIS is the answer

Domain: spotteddeer.com
Owner: n/a
Organization: Spotted Deer Partners
email: [email protected]
Address: 1573 Landvater Road
City: Hummelstown
Postal-Code: 17036
Country: USA

Yellow Pages:

Buffington Associates
1573 Landvater Road, Hummelstown, PA 17036

Now that’s a conflict of interest, if I ever saw one.
Buffington owning LGBoA and selling on line also. What does that say to the independent LGB dealers.
He is competing with his own dealers for the consumers money. Big mistake.
How in the hell can a distributor make good relations with their dealers and then sell the same stuff on the side.
Same as USA Trains and Charles Ro Supply.
This will get interesting.

John, you have a very few biggies selling LGB and then you have the LHS LGB dealers that don’t want to carry anything and if you ask them to order something it takes them 6 months to get it. And RigeRoad doesn’t show parts etc on it’s website. Those are what’s been really hard for me to get. So far Spotted Deer is the only place that seems to carry parts…or at least lets the buying public know they have them.

Warren,

Ever heard of “drop shipping”?

According to my sources, parts from LGBoA have at present a four week delivery lag.

But you could order all the spare parts stuff you need from Spotted Deer and then tell us how it went; delivery time, backorder situation, price, shipping etc. etc. I’m reasonably sure that would produce an interesting thread.

May take you up on it. 4 weeks is a lot shorter than 6 months. The one train store within 300 miles that carries LGB only carries a small selection and when LSers go in we are treated like 2nd class citizens. They will talk to us as long as we are the only ones in the store. But let an HOer or an On30 person show up and they just walk away.

Sheesh Warren, almost sounds like that store gives model railroaders preferential treatment. :D :D :D

Sure makes you wonder what shapes those attitudes; BTW does that store also carry 1:20.3 and 1:32?

You can go to LGBoA’s website. Click on “retail locator” and the first link you see is “Spotted Deer”.
Good-bye to the “mom & pop” local LGB dealers, is what I can see coming.

I don’t think they ever heard of it!!

At Christmas they might have one piece of Aristo or USAT. I asked if they were going to get in any of the new LGB Amtrak cars. The owner said no. He couldn’t sell them. (Translated, he does’t want to be bothered with LS).
