LGB of America and PIKO =?

Take a look at what just showed up on MyLargeScale (link)!!

Is there a (barely concealed) message there?

Happy RRing,

Jerry,

Thanks for the laugh!

Anytime I see a German or Austrian SG (Taurus) engine at the head of a train of Swiss NG equipment I’m so impressed that I fall out of my chair.
ROTFLMAO

Looks like Jack “As close to 1:29 as I can get it” Lynch missed out on those SG coaches that LGB produces and the freight cars that were relettered for DB. You just can’t win them all.

Oh BTW the new Diesel from PIKO should be out any day now.

. . . Here in NA we wait for: A press release from G45/LGBoA. . . .
Isn't that MLS link (above) dated 03 Sep 2007 (today) at 14:22:51 and signed: "Jack Lynch / Marketing Manager / LGB of America" the equivalent of either a press release or perhaps throwing down of the gauntlet??

The PIKO Taurus locomotive and the connection to LGBoA or G45 is nothing new, but I believe the (continuing) use of the LGBoA name is perhaps an indicator or at least a fishing expedition.

Just my thoughts: Your mileage may vary!!

Jerry,
I think that it is very pertinent that Jack would display his Taurus’s (Taurii?). It is the only locomotive that LGBoA has in its stable. I would not be suprised if the company encourages Piko to produce more of the same as I feel that sufficient European interest exists in the States to warrant future sales.

I quite like the loco in its variants, plus the upcoming diesel. I overlook the obvious scale discrepancies.

Jerry,

Jack “As close to 1:29 as I can get it” Lynch has been known to take some time to “adjust” his signature and profile. Like on the GR forum where he was promoting LGB without letting on who he was until I told him it would be nice to at least update his profile. Just in case someone would be interested in who he is.  Guerrilla marketing mode seems to be quite fashionable today.
As for the significance: What happened to that big round G=45mm logo he used to sport?? Too obtrusive?? Or not specific enough?

Jack has made three postings on MLS since July 26th and all include his ‘signature’. I do not believe it to be related to “Oh, sorry, I forgot to alter it.”

Is it somehow significant that Ford Motor Company gave up its Taurus line of automobiles?

Incorrect. The Taurus is back. New model. Just saw a commercial last night...

I think it was a “Coke” / “New Coke” thing.

Steve,

The “lite bulb” burned out!! But this time they found some 1 to change it… Took a year of bad sales, but they learned…

TAC,
You’re bored fartless! I’d would much rather watch paint dry!

On this Taurus thing.
A dealer had one at our meeting before last. No one paid it a bit of attention. Not even me, and I have a few Swiss outline e-loks.

But he uses the methane to fuel his live steamers …

When you go to “www.lgb.de” it redirects you to “www.lgboa.com”.
When you go to “www.lgb.com” it redirects you to “www.lgboa.com”.
What does this mean?

Jan,
nothing mysterious here. Last year Lehmann had a refusal of supply by its server, due possibly non paying of server fees. LGBoA took up the old LGBb website and hosted it on their own website. It is as simple as that - no subtefuge.

and maybe the fact that Axle Dietz of Märklin has apparently stated they will have the lgb.de site up in October…

The quicker that Marklin gets the website up the better for all involved. Whether it ia a local dealer, customer or Marklin themselves.

Larry,

As always it is one step at a time, that’s how business works. Priorities, priorities, priorities.

Status quo is several LGB addresses being diverted to LGBoA. No problem, anyone anywhere in the world can look up what they need to look up - courtesy of LGBoA keeping the English and German versions running.

The changeover to Märklin will happen soon enough (Approx. Oct according to the Märklin CEO).

Just remember up to July 26th 2007 there were a lot of people who said “It won’t happen. Just wait 'til next week”.
And then the week of July 26th 2007 rolled around and IT happened
