Large Scale Central

let's see your engines!!

Awesome collection Dave.

That WM RS-3 really caught my eye. I’d like to see a better picture of that engine if you feel inclined to post one. I grew up with the WM running through my Grandmother’s backyard in Westminster MD. The fireball logo and round heralds were just a bit before my time but I remember the Circus Colored Geeps and some F units as well as the speed lettering back in the 60’s.

The WM RS-3 was an ECLSTS show loco a number of years ago. It is my favorite 1:29 loco.

Sorry about the big photos below. I have either 320 wide or 1024 wide on-line. The 320’s are too small; hopefully you will see enough of them in the left 800 pixels to get the idea. If not, right click and “view Image”

I would like to see more pics of the Aristo E series. It’s an engine that I’ve wanted and never bought. When one has come up, there’s always been something else that popped up too. I’ve avoided the work I’d need to do to modify it for my RR. I have to gut them and install command.
I also have a couple of the Aristo Dash’s and USA Mac’s that are modern era that I prefer. I’m always searching for more SD70MAC’s to modify. I’d like to get the BNSF executive colors. If anyone has one that doesn’t run or needs a good home!

Scott, as Jon said, the Western Maryland RS3 was the ECLSTS locomotive back in 2006. Mine has a Sierra sound system in it. I also bought the set of 4 hopper cars and caboose, they were the show cars. If I had known there were 2 sets of 4 cars I would have bought 2 sets. As it was, I later added 2 more cars to this set so I could have a reasonable train behind the RS3.

I heard that they had that engine at ECLSTS right before I got in to Large scale trains. If I’d have know about it at that time I would’ve loved to have purchased one myself.

Scott, I also have a Western Maryland FA1, with the speed lettering on it. She was a show engine from a later ECLSTS the the RS3. The FA1 is a shelf queen, I have never run her, and she doesn’t appear on the P&CS roster. I didn’t want her, but I won her as a prize, so she is on permanent display on my display shelves.

Hey David - Are you sure the RS-3 was 2006? I have a 2006 ECLSTS shirt on now and it has the WM FA1 on it. I have another shirt with just the WM speedball but don’t remember the year on it.

If I was in a better position I’d try and get that FA1 from you. Maybe you’ll still have it when I am.

Jon, yes I am sure. I noted in the Excel roster what year each show car and engine was.

Me and ig and the boys got nothing out of the ordinary that you haven’t seen before here, or elsewhere.

It’s all commercially-available stuff that you can mostly see on our YouTube channel.

to give you guys a little anti climax…

the oldest one is with me since 1969 or 1970.those, that actually work, have either a stainz or a playmobil brick inside.
some were somewhat bashed in a crude manner about 20 years ago, all of them await (more) bashing in the future.
two bashes and the playmobil 4-4-0 are pushed by motorized tenders.
one loco and tender await to be used for a train crash scene (hint: yellow) or as spender for parts.
the pink one (to be motorized in the future) is my favorite. it is the “living” proof, that even female, barbie-aged early teenagers sometimes think about daddy.
i found it below the christmas tree, years ago.

My csx sd40-2. Handrails are still in the box. I didn’t put them on because I only took it out for this picture.

I like that natural weathering (dust) Korm several of my locos have a similar treatment.

Matt that CSX looks ready to move some serious long trains. I like that Kitty likes the Chessie, maybe she knows that is a sleeping cat on the “C”

The Cat and the Chessie Diesel PRICELESS!! Nice picture.

The RS-3 was from 2005 and the FA was from 2006:

22226 - Show Engine for ECLSTS 2005 - ALCO RS-3 Diesel Locomotive - Western Maryland

22029S - Show Car for ECLSTS 2006 - ALCO FA-1 Diesel Locomotive - Western Maryland

The RS3 was 2005? Yea you are right. 2005 is what is printed on the bottom of the fuel tank. I must have typed the wrong date into my roster notes.

My bad.

Thanks Todd and Tom. That little guy is Buster. He has to inspect everything I do. lol.

hello all,

Yep - Had my 2005 ECLSTS Speedball T-shirt on yesterday. Got it with my black WM RS-3.
