Scott,

Also glad to see you worked out the posting issue. I’ve seen those engines up close and personal and they are sweet. Looking forward to more of your postings.

Doc Watson

Thanks Doc. Coming from you that’s high accolades. Here’s a before and after photo of Big John. As you can can see the original HLW engine looks like a Lionel toy train and it isn’t a prototype engine. It does resemble several narrow gauge engines like Dunkirk, Heisler, etc. I just took the original engine a little bit further down the road and personally like the results.

PAZ roster addition: D&H RS-3 #908 (custom unit purchased from DASH Marketplace), anyone out there who can identify the unit’s kitbasher?

Awesome job believe me, from added Marker Lights, custom redo of headlamps to single bulb, and a remarkable paint job redoing a C&O unit.

Along with the PAZ roster RS-3 D&H addition; sister unit GP38-2 #7314 joined #7315.

Sound unit installed and will join the Lehigh Valley GP’s #317 & #318 (eventually becoming D&H #7317 & #7318 after purchase by D&H. These units will remain in PAZ Lehigh Valley heritage with the RS-3 LV units.

My roster is not nearly as deep as many here, and my active roster is really quite small. For Fn3 operations I basically have 7 locos, of which only 5 are on the active roster, and only four of those in service.

Currently out-of-service is M-10. In the shop for coupler and sound work…

Presently the only active duty diesel on the Fn3 roster is M-11. M-11 is scheduled to go in the shop when M-10 returns for coupler work and paint…

Our every day workhorse engine is Shay #5

Brought out for special occasions only is Old #2

And currently relegated to switcher service on the Indoor Division is Porter #3

Out of Service and torn down for Major work is our outside frame consolidation, to be numbered #4 on return to service. Shown here with our Mogul #1, which is stored serviceable but needing some electrical work…

That does it for the Fn3 roster. Our G29 roster has had a lot less photos taken so will be a bit harder to document!

I love M-10 John, that has so much shortline flavor to it! The local welding/crane company has a center cab switcher sitting on blocks in thier yard, trucks are there but covered so I cannot see if they are side rod equipted or not. How well do those engines like M-10 handle tight radius track work? Mike

You get snow inside?

I was just asking since you said its relagated to the inside.

Thanks Mike. Running light, M-10 and M-11 could negotiate R1 switches. The body mound couplers with a car attached, not so much. Indoors everything except a few Misc. yard tracks are "Wide (5Ft R) swithces and outdoors is mostly #6.

Hi David! When that photo was taken #3 was my only Fn3 steam outline engine that was operable on battery, so it got lots of calls and ran outdoors on the CVSRy as well as several other roads as a visiting loco… Now that #5 is operational, #3 has been assigned to do what it does best, move short cars through R1 switches on the Indoor division.

Ah, reassigned.

I have a pretty eclectic roster that reflects the butterfly nature of what passes, in my case, for a mind.

You can see many of them on my YouTube channel - tac’s trains.

Shawmut Car Shops, maybe? He did a fabulous job of recreating a Northern Pacific SD45 with the full black and yellow ‘canoe’ paint scheme for me, using Stan’s decals.

Those are beautiful D&H diesels Bob. Always thought that was one of the prettiest paint schemes in railroading.

D&H Challenger arrived Saturday, Jul 26 '14 at 235p; shop maintenance realizes they have to build an extension on the front of the engine facility to cover this massive locomotive until a permanent shed is constructed!

D&H 4-6-6-4 Challenger

Gad I hate to do it, but the re post of this corn ball adventure trailer does have all four of my motive powers that be.

Bob, you saved some money. I was at the Ohio train show and forgot to bid before I left. I got home too late. We might have battled over that one. Very nice!

Joe, this locomotive is ‘awesome’, can not wait to pull a string of 2-bay coal hoppers or a mixed freight!

These bad boys ran out of Carbondale PA about 32 miles NE of where I live. The D&H Wilkes-Barre roundhouse was about 6 miles away (down river) and Parsons Yard less than that. Never saw any of these, however, remember the RS-3s at WB roundhouse.

took the Challengers out back for the kids to play with! (they prefer steam!)

Here’s a grouping of some of our locos:
