Large Scale Central

Let me jump on the bandwagon

Went up to the local Lowe’s this afternoon for roofing material, ie: plywood. Put some finishing touches on the wall, ie: winders

Moving right along. Gotta keep the troops happy…

Izzis WWII wid the winders blacked out?

What are you going to waterproof the plywood with?

Looks good, so far! Keep the pics coming.

I likes the ideer of faux winders.

Ah, who the heck is gonna bend over and look in the winders anyway?
I’ll just pour some waterseal over it the way I did the coal tipple and TT. The plywood’s the PT stuff.

I’ve found that using West System Epoxy or the MAS Epoxy, used in building wooden boats, either one of which will form an epoxy barrier between the wood and the weather. Then you can paint it or what ever, and not worry about it again. Yeah, the stuff is a little spendy, but it will go a long way building models for our railroads.

If anyone needs West System information literature, source of information, or possibly wanting to have product sent to them, I know a very friendly, slightly perverted marina operator that can provide all that you need. (Big toothey smile)

Ken,
I don’t believe in seeing through windows either. Our hard water covers them with white deposits anyway.

Ken, that looks great!

I’m guessing the photos before - after are winter - summer. If not, that biggish bush you have near the drive has fooled me.

The first photo is a earlier picture of the area. The more recent is the second. That " biggest bush" is a scotch broom" and needs to be trimmed back a bit…

Very nice Ken.
I bet it weighs a few pounds!
Ralph

Yea, a few…hopefully once it’s in place it won’t have to be moved around…

Ken,

You might not want to do the roof before you come here.

Do you remember the rubber roofing at Consolidated? I have that in stock. It is self sticking and water does not get through it. I think it is called “Mule Hide”.

We can get you some out at the marina, if you want it.

Ric, I have the corregated roofing in those veneer sheets already ordered, but I will take a look at what you are offering…Thanx.

Ken, that’s looking, good…

I test fit the engine house this morning…it was such a beyoooootiful day, I had to do sumthin outside. Anyway, here’s how looks in the yard:

I still need to do the roof and the doors, but I wanted to make sure it fit where I planned to put it.

I had to curve the track off the TT lead so that had to tested to make sure the engine made it around the curve:

And with the roof on:

Very impressive. That has really turned into a neat area.

It’s the area everyone see’s coming up the walk, so I had to make look somewhat presentable…

Next up is finding a name for the place…

Sweet! Too bad you can’t set the house back 6 inches or so to ease the curve some.

Inspiration!

Ken,
That looking very nice.
Rodney

It doesn’t have a name yet?

How sad… :frowning:
