Large Scale Central

Lean- to

Neat pic. The CCC was everywhere during the last Depression, even built some of the State Parks here in Tennessee. They did good work…that lasted.

Shawn?? nice little passenger station.... when do you lay the tracks for the ""Ride-On"" train???? hehehe
Dont tempt me. I would love to do that. The terrain is not very cooperative. I have one big hill to get up. LOL
Shawn??? Those are called ""Switchbacks""..... :)

If nothing else, you’ll be comfortable there if the wife doesn’t get her garage back…

Or her new counter tops in the kitchen!

I finaly got the overhang done and sides all closed up. Today I put the metal roof on. Next step is siding. Im also going to close the front in a few feet on either side. I got the post for the front overhang. Just have to wait for warm weather so I can build a rock pier to support the post.

Is there a roof cap sheet? I dont see anything at the ridge. What are you going to cover the walls with? You know what this really needs is dont you…from the house to the camp ground, maybe something like this :

Slap a fresh diaper on and finish it NOW!

Guys you are too much LOL

Vic. I have to get the cap for the peak still. My local box stores were out of them. All they had were the green (more expensive) I would love to have a RR to get me down to the lean-to. T hat would just make it. Then I can have my own logging operation so I can supply the wood for my wood stove at the house. Its so nice to dream
The walls I have a few options. The park has an old barn that callopsed. Im going to see if I can salvage some of the siding from that. My other option is a local business by me cuts and builds the triangle roof peaks. They have a sawmill that they use to cut the lumber. Im going to see if can get some of the rough cut boards that they throw away. As a last resort Im going to buy some siding either cedar or pine.

Ralph I would get the post done but the ground is frozen solid :frowning:

Rooster shut up

Shawn, there is always the late night discount store at the collapsed barn in the park. Just remember to change the tires on your pickup…

Heres a shot of the lean to in the snow. Cant wait to sleep out in it during a snowstorm.

Rooster I think you should come up this way with your son and we can have a camp out. Ill sneak you over the border.

Any thought about adding short knee braces from the ridge board down to the side walls? Just looks like that open front end is susceptable to shear rotation under heavy snow loading, or maybe a pair of small shear walls at the front, can’t help it, I was an Inspector and am still trained as an architect, I cant help but notice things like that.

Vic I was actually going to put small shear walls in the front. I was hoping to do it this week but the weather held me back. Thanks for pointing it out. If you see anything else please let me know. I never really built anything to that size just stuff for my layout. Any pointers ect... is a big help.

No Knee Braces…we want supporting corbel’s carved from a Jersey Hill oak!!
