Lazy days of summer

They look great together Bruce

Looks great Bruce. Your article on 1-20.me said that Camellia was built at 50 foot. How long is the Mikado + Tender? The two together must be pretty long.

Nice look, Bruce. I’m bringing an Illinois Terminal HO Interurban to Canada for your’s, Gaetan’s and Doug’s inspection from a friend Mark Godwin, that I introduced Doug to. You may have met him at one of the OPs Sessions. It has the round coach windows. Your model turned out great!

They sure look great running together…

I like the look of your Mike and Camellia Bruce: great models.

As far as lazy summer days are concerned well lazy at times, but not others. Wintertime means most of my RR is visible from where I am currently sitting but summertime little of it is in view due to the growth of bushes and tall plants. It makes MOW more demanding - removing petals, twigs and sundry horticultural unwanteds from the track. But it does make railroading more interesting as longer consists, on a smaller RR’s, can be run as cars dodge behind plants and bushes.

Jon, It’s a long train - close to 6 feet! The turntable below is 3 feet. The Camellia fits fine.

It’s a bit tighter for the Mike

Since I can’t top those last couple of pix, I won’t even try. Since this about lazy summer days and with temps close to 100 since I got back, hasn’t been much runnin on the RGS. Russel’s finished his renovations and is now open for business. The 2 old codgers, Hollywood and Rooster have decided to forgo the game of checkers and hit the local saloon.

Seems the new bank isn’t seeing much business.

Even Hesperus’ new water tank isn’t seeing much in the way of any business.

The whole darn town is taking a siesta till the weather cools down.

Nice shots Ken. I like the curtains in the bank. Did ‘Durango Bill’ show up at Hesperus recently and tag that new water tank.

Bruce that does take up a little track

I'm thinkin you're cross eyed from trying to paint the checker board :D Ralph

SOB even has a ROOSTER weather vane! I’ll have to ponder a bit but I will eventually fix his wagon for him at Russels Repairs

I caught a little washout from the recent rains that I was finally able to fix. So today I got out the full passenger set and made it’s inaugeral run on my newer loop.

pacing along. Had a hot day for running ,but my nephew was in town and he was enjoying himself at the controls. If you’ve paid attention to the pics you’ve noted the chair car (articulated car) was only in the first couple of pics. As I stated earlier I had a few false starts, and I thought the overall weight of the train was too much stress on the coupler on the 'B" unit. Further investigation lead to finding that coupler sag between the “B” unit and the Steam Generator Car ( another modified B unit was the problem. Seems the design of the Aristo coupler mount on the FA rear and both ends of the FB units allows for a little sag under strain and in this case, two B units together, allowed for coupler separation. All in all still a good day and I have found a couple problems I need to address.

Hollywood…
Very impressive consist.

Jon,
Nice to see trains running again
Ralph

Very nice looking passenger set, Dave. Hope you get the coupler situation worked out.

I’ve had some of the same coupler issues and had to do some work on the bolsters on my streamliners by slightly cutting the bolter on an angle to allow the car to “tilt” easier on the curves. Jim Carter had a post or 2 on his solution on the Aristo site. His examples work great.

A great looking consist David - I have always felt that the B&O style road colors were some of the best.

I often wish I had the open spaces that some of you guys have but, having passed the three score and ten mark, I realize that bigger = more maintenance and work. lol

Hollywood layout is looking good but I dont see any steam LOL Jon deep cut is cool and even better with the trains runnning.

Thank you Ralph

Stan Thank you. I appreciate the heads up on Jim Carters postings But when I searched him out It seemed he had questions not answers. A link did show up for Teds fixes on Greg E’s site, and I have followed George S’s site. None seem to address this issue. I’m thinking of putting a metal reinforcement on the sides of the coupler mount to help, but still looking for former fixes first.

Thank you Alan Yes I realized the similarity to B&O after I was finished painting. It just didn’t dawnon me till I saw the finished cars.I grew up in B&O territory so I know where the influence comes from.

Thanks Shawn. Steam is here just none of it has been serviced yet. The future will bring steam to the line.
