Large Scale Central

Layout photo

This is a photo a friend sent me that he took last summer. Just think it is a nice shot.

Cool photo, Paul. Very realistic. Thanks for sharing.

I agree it could pass for the real thing. Except that train is awful clean (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif)

OK, now let’s see a picture of a Southern Pacific diesel or two. (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-smile.gif)

Michael,

I have been terrible about taking photos the last few years. I promise I will get some S.P. up for you in the next month or two.

Very nice, Paul.

Paul, photos from the past would suffice. You put up some real nice ones here a few years ago. (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-smile.gif)

Michael,

Here are a couple I don’t think you have seen. GP9 3611 was the last SP GP9 in the Black Widow paint scheme. The steam loco is a GS1 northern. They were mostly used in commuter service out of San Francisco.

I’m looking forward to using it to pull the new USA heavyweights.

Paul I agree with Michael

More photos please.

Agree. Too bad that little sign shows up at upper left - Photshop that out and you have a contest winner (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

Paul is too humble. I have saved over 50 photos of his that were taken between 2008 and 2017, and his highly detailed layout, locomotives, and rolling stock look so realistic, it’s like being there. No exaggeration at all.

Great pics, and a beautiful layout! I especially like the first photo with all the cattle. It looks so natural.

That looks like a cool layout. The first photo does look real but I agree with Devon the train is too clean.(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-sealed.gif)

I really like how the train emerges from the tunnel and right onto a bridge before the station. That would be an amazing spot to be a railfan.

Ok. The SF GP40 will be a moderately weathered loco within the hour. I’m a Southern Pacific fan. Most all my locos are SP. I did this one SF GP40 because there is a SF fan that comes over here for op sessions. Also, SF only had one GP40 and I liked the looks of the detail on it like air conditioner, ground plane with Sinclair antenna and roof beacon. That made it unique and I like that.

Great images, Paul… Yes, they really look like the real thing… Prototype… (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

Great pics Paul, Thanks for sharing

Paul, have you ever thought of painting one in the Shouldn’t Paint So Fast (SPSF) scheme, otherwise known as “The Kodachrome?”

Stolen fair and square from https://www.oil-electric.com/2015/02/spsf-shouldnt-paint-so-fast.html

Speaking of “Kodachrome”, I recently did a video of

Maybe Paul wouldn’t mind if I posted a few of his “blast from the past” photos here. Got some USA Trains SP and Cotton Belt Geeps, Aristo Cotton Belt RS-3’s, and a couple of SP steam engines. Plus some superbly detailed trackwork and overall layout shots.

Michael,

Feel free to post whatever you want. I don’t have the RS3’s anymore. Never did really like them so they were sold during one of our trips to Marty’s.

Steve,

I did consider The Kodachrome paint a couple times but I like the more traditional better.

For those that wanted to see the SF GP40 with some dirt on it, it is now weathered. I will have a photo or two in a couple days along with a USA extended vision caboose that has been kitbashed to look more like a SF Ce-8. Just finishing it up.
