Large Scale Central

Lassen Freight Depot project

Never Mind.

Ok, on with the first phase. Now what am I going to do?

My shop assistant (Otis) and I spent the weekend restocking the supply cabinet by making molds and casting parts. Did my homework, compared buying versus making them and Zassam! Made 5 molds and cast a total of 19 parts so far for the grand total of $81 including tax. I still have half of the casting plastic left plus the five molds. Bought an extra pound of mold making compound so if I come across something I need, I have the stuff to make it.

Still pondering the final design. Have decided to go with SP color scheme, Strawflower Yellow, Samoa Brown, and Moss Green roof. Am going to use 18X24" 1/4" Acrylic Base. The intent is to have ~ 22" of track side elevated loading dock with a Truck transfer dock on one side of final building configuration Going to bash this square build into a “L” configuration. Interior and exterior lighting with be provided with solar powered LEDs as usual. Found some LEDs that have output that resembles spotlights. I think I will light exterior with lighting on multiple light fixture poles. Color scheme will match that of the Lassen Depot that is already built.

Draft Footprint.

Looking good!

Got this far this morning. Couple more cuts, fitting/filing and then break out the weld-on & MEK!

Not too bad there Mike! Gives me some ideas.

Paul

More nice work  Looks good Mike

Got the couple more cuts, fitting/filing and then break out the weld-on & MEK steps done. All square and ready put down on foundation. Thank goodness for the junk pile.

Well got the first day of “plastic” surgery done today. Most of the “skin” done, gotta cut some more “holes” for windows etc.

As soon as I finish the Vader Loco, I need to get back on this and finish. Got just one more junker PIKO to work with. Haven’t decided what to morph it into yet.

Well as part of my therapy due to loss of BMW M6 purchase (I snoozed), I got back at it and sat at the bench and put first coat of flat white on all the window frames and freight doors per SP specs. Will put final on later today or tomorrow am. Then it is off to the races as they say. Install windows, doors, fab roof and then on to the building the loading/transfer dock…

Now that I have finished the Vader3000 Locomotive and addressed my need for speed ( BMW M6), I have returned to the Black Dog Skunk Works and am proceeding with this build. Got all my windows and doors painted, installed, and security glass installed. Next is the electrical work, roofs, and finally docks and exterior details. Will Load picture when I get roofs on. On another note, BoB, should I delete older pictures, thin the “herd” so I can have “room” to post more pictures. Thanks for the assistance in advance.

My $.02 on deleting posted pics. I never do. I think there is a lot of knowledge in these forums for people who arrive even years after a topic stopped being active. If the pictures are still there, the thread has value. In many cases if the pictures are gone, the discussion is meaningless.

This all depends on how much space you have. I have pretty much unlimited space at my web hosting service. If your using the free 5Mb space here, then it’s kind of tight, so you might need to manage it - or better yet buy a Freight Shed from Bob

Thanks for that input Jon as I was actually thinking about moving mine around and deleting some. I guess I should let them stand then?

Yup - if you can. Don’t forget that I used a lot of your pictures on the Lemo Tower article http://www.largescalecentral.com/articles/view.php?id=111 - All the images in that article are coming from your Photobucket space.

…winking…
