Large Scale Central

Kittatinny Mountain RR sold

Hey Shawn,

Great news! Hope it works out for you guys. Stayed in your neighborhood last Monday night at the same campground as when we visited. Arrived after dark and left early the next morning.

It is a nice part of the World.

Thanks Ric. My new house will be closer to that campground (still on other side of the mountain though)

Everything is out of attorney review now. Next week the house inspections start. NJ doesn’t make that part fun and everyone has to get their share of the money grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Its expensive moving and we aren’t even in the house yet lol…

HMMMMMMMMMMMM,

I finally figure how to get somewhere without directions, GPS, etc., and now you’re moving.

Good for you, Shawn, can’t wait to see the new layout.

Cause and effect?

Pat dont worry Im closer to 84 now. Wont be hard to find me.

I work in real estate and it is rare to find a house with trains let alone large scale ones so the odds are HUGE that you would sell your house to someone who is interested in them. Are you getting extra money for the RR, you should write up a contract that X conveys with the house.

Good luck with the sale.

Great News Shawn! Doesn’t seem that things could have gone much better for you. Hopefully this will give you license to do/try some new things you’ve wanted to do with your rail road. Being in some what the same situation (just on a very stretched out time scale) your story gives me more hope. I’ll be making a post about all that soon. Congrats! I can’t wait to see what you create this time around.

Congrate Shawn, now is the time to go bigger!!

Thanks guys. Todd Im not asking for any money for the RR or a contract. Just a good ol fashion handshake. Im happy with just getting the track replaced. I figure if he doesnt produce the track then I rip my track up on the last day. We just want to get rid of the house because the market out hear is very bad. Nothing is selling and lots of house for sale. Im just thankful we sold.

Sean the new RR will be about the same size. I was very happy with the size of my current RR. It allowed me to focus on the scenes and the landscape.

Finally making progress. The bulk of the inspections are done. I also met the buyers and learned that he is a General Manager for the Middletown NY and NJ Railroad. Its a shortline railroad. Never new about it. He also said he wouldgive me a ride someday  After talking to him for a while I learned he is into G scale (the reason he wants the layout) He is into the larger stuff mainly and also does live steam. He did say he will have to get some smaller stuff for the layout. We talked about the layout and he is giving me all the track to replace what I have. Most of the buildings I can take.

Looks like you will have another live steamer to run with, lucky dog;)

Wow! You don’t often see a deal like that!

You’re gunna be a regular railroad maggot!

That worked out very well for you Shawn. a house is a house but I bet the RR had something to do with the guy choosing yours over all the others for sale. Railroad men stick together.

10 more days to go till the move. Talk about a stressful process grrrrrrrrrrrrrr…

My replacement track was delivered yesterday all in 5 ft sections. Now Im really getting exited in starting the new layout. Hopefully in another 2 weeks Ill have some plans up and ground will be broken. Praying the weather holds.

Wishing you all good luck, looking forward to seeing the progress.

All in 5 foot sections? You are going to be having fun with a rail-bender. Did he replace the rail-clamps too?

What? Not praying for snow?

Haha no snow till Dec. Normally I would take it now. If I could get a good month of no snow I should have the track down.
David I could have gotten 10ft dia curves but I would rather bend the track. Gives me more options. He didn’t replace the rail clamps (I never asked him) but that’s not a big deal since I prefer the Aristo rail joiners with the tiny screw. I didn’t have that many rail clamps to start with. On a god note I have become friends with the new owner and will have a partner to run trains with.

Shawn I have had some of my Aristo joiners fail on me, but a surprising number of them are still out there, on the railroad, doing their job, 12 years later.

I also prefer “flex” track.

Shawn, that sounds like a WIN WIN to me
