Large Scale Central

Kittatinny Mountain RR sold

The logging on the Kittatinny Mountain Railroad has slowed down in the last year due to the forest being depleted. The operations were put up for sale last July. An offer was made and excepted. The deal is currently under attorney review. (The guys were hopping to discus things with some moon shine, apparently city folk use lawyers) A new location was found 5 miles away, with bigger and better timber. An offer was made and accepted for the new land purchase. As of now closing on the old land and new land will occur at the end of October. Apparently the new buyers want the current operations and will replace all the track. Sounds like they will be using the line as a tourist line.
Keep your fingers crossed and hope everything goes smooth. Still have the inspections to g through ugh…

Can’t get much luckier than that. So another large scale nut moves into your neighborhood. Good luck Shawn

5 miles away, maybe you could run a new line from old to new. Just a thought. Cant wait to see the new layout. Good luck:)

congrats! good luck in the closing and move!

Terry

Wow, so you finally sold your place?

I am taking it the new buyer will reuse your old layout? Sweet. That doesn’t get any better than that. Good luck with it.

well, since you can’t play on yours for a while, come on down and get mine up and running!

Vic I was shocked when they said they wanted the layout and that they would replace the track.
Cal the new house is move in ready, that means I can start on the layout before the ground freezes. My goal is to have the track in place by then. That way I can run through the winter. I already have the area picked out and what I want to do. Nice part I have flat ground to work with

Way to go Shawn, I’ll be looking forward to your progress on the new layout.

Whereabout’s is this new place? Closer or further away from where I live…

That is great news. Looking forward to your new build. You have some very good and creative ideas. Is the joy over “flat ground” signalling an emphasis on live steam power??

Doc Tom

Shawn, you are one lucky duck!

Congratulations. Last time we talked you thought that there was little hope of making a sale. Glad you were wrong! I assume you need to stay in NJ for your job.

Awsome deal, so are they just buying you all new track to replace all that you have down now? Hope they know how pricey new track is  Congrats on the sale!!!

Be sure to invite them to join up here

Thanks guys.
Ken the new house will be closer to I84 and the NY line. (closer to High Point) We stopped t the house for another look. I have plenty of spots to put the layout.
Mike I think he has the track already. Sounds like he knows a thing or two about g scale.
Jon unfortuently I have to stay in NJ for work. Cant move out of state. NY is only a few miles awy now.

Flat ground??? No bridges? No tunnels? What kinda railroad is that?

Glad things worked out for you.

Who says you cant have bridges and tunnels on flat ground. My current layout is on flat ground and I had all the above. You just have to be more creative. Besides live steam works better on flat

Shawn

Good luck Bro!

Yes you can build bridges and tunnels on flat ground.
