Well I just rebuilding a AC Pacific I bought for $90. It’s the newer version plug and play. Got it running Sunday. Later RJD
As far as that jumping Spring goes, SWMBO doodled off to the East coast (NS) and from there they went skiing at Stoneham (North of Quebéc City) returning to NS. Scheduled to be returning home today, but stuck in one of those wonderful snow storms back East.
BTW they sent me pictures, if anyone needs to see how much snow there is. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-foot-in-mouth.gif)
Spring. Ah, yes. Couple of things.
One, I finished off the last of my vintage die cast H0 engine restorations…including a John A. English “Yardbird” I picked up three weekends ago.
Now six Varney steamers, at least eight Mantua (not TYCO), a PennLine, two English, at least six Varney die cast diseaemals.
Plus some others.
Done, and on display.
English Ivy. A plague upon us around here. Two big problems is on trees it allows fungus and disease to work on the bark, and the wind sail issue from our sometimes high winds coming flat off the water. Takes huge trees down, across roads and power lines.
So, I am now a volunteer…when I take the granddaughter to the park near us, I have the clippers in the side pocket of my coveralls, and I clip away.
Bad thing is the greenies think you’re destroying natural habitat…even though these are non-native, invasive species…so I have a photo ID badge and…backup.
I can only do so much, strength wise, but I’ve cleared over a dozen trees in the last two weeks.
Got the retaining walls and fences backdrops pressure washed on the CCRy. Pruned back a bunch of sheet, so we’ll be ready next ops session.

It may well be the first day of astronomical spring tomorrow but residents of Cresson PA (and I guess a few other places as well) woke up to seeing a fall of snow this morning. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-surprised.gif)
I tried burning some of the winter fall, but it was still too wet. We had a few days of rain recently, which didn’t help. Out here in the country, next to the sign that says, “Edge of the world-2 miles,” the rules on burning are a bit relaxed. The wood was so wet that it didn’t even give way to “scoutmaster juice.”
So, I’m raking up Ponderosa Pine needles, a never ending task. Its good PT for my shoulders, though. Next comes pruning the various trees, encouraging the mosses and discouraging the grasses.
In my spare time I’m working on a turntable. It won’t be pretty, but it will be functional. I’ve got some bench work to finish, some to rehab, a few switches to build.
It will be a fun spring.
Spring!! 4" of fresh…
The sun came out so I decided to plow. Little too deep…
That’s 4 inches of fresh spring.
Is that plowing or tunneling?
Winter has left so cal and spring arrived…for about one week, now its straight into summer at 90 degrees today.
