Is anyone home at Aristo Craft?

Hoping to actually lay some track and maybe start on an outdoor layout, I went to the Aristo site to see about getting some more, wide-angle switches, since I have only three. Well, there’s hardly anything there. So, are they out of the track business?

If so, what’s my best bet, Accucraft? I have 332 track.

REal men handlay…

you just miss a -30% off track sale and they are geting more stuff and new stuff too

Their stock on everything seems way down…The latest 30% off everything won’t help that either! Time to pick up some good deals, thinking I may even pick up a consolidation!

Shut up Rooster

I dunno, it took them three months to send me tie replacements. I think their investments for stock overall, are way down. Hopefully things will start to turn around for them. I’d hate to see them go under. It seems they are going the way of MTH…O guage.

Aristo is having another 30% off everything sale

Mike

no maybe they have something later

Joe maybe the Pro Line stuff that Train Li sells would work. I think its 332 and I know they have some larger switches.

All depends how picky you are; LGB, Pro Line and PIKO all have a European look about them.

I don’t understand what you are looking for Joe, the Wide Radius or #6 switches. Aristo hasn’t had any #6 switches for a while but they have plenty of the Wide Radius switches in stock. You either have to enter the part number you are looking for or look under the USA style category.
I just ordered several aluminum Wide Radius switches on their 30% off track sale. They cost me $28 something a piece and the order shipped the same day I ordered.

Everybody complains that the manufactures aren’t stocking anything but no one has a clue how much money these companies have to invest to keep the doors open or make new product. Right now with this slow economy most people don’t have every much expendable money to spend on their hobby with the high cost of food and gas. I know that my dollar doesn’t go as far as it use to.

We have several members in our club that are selling out their collection of large scale trains to cover medical cost they have incured. These poor guys are basically giving their stuff away at super cheap prices but no one has money to but anything. It’s pretty sad.

wide angle = wide radius I believe.

I would recommend that you take a look at the Train Li switches. They are available and have a wide variety of radius choices.

Last week I had an Aristocraft question and called them. The “service department” was on vacation but I emailed them and had an answer from a guy who was on vacation but answered my question.

Compare the tie patterns

How are the Train-Li ties holding up outside?

The Train-Li (Pro-Line) ties are just as good as any LGB product because they’re both made in Germany. The tie pattern on the Train-Li matches the Euro style ties on LGB and Piko. The tie pattern on Aristo Craft Wide Radius (10" dia) and the #6 switches match their USA style track.

All of these manufacturers switches hold up good outdoors that’s what they’re made to do. Train-Li has some great looking switches but they also come with great big prices.

I think I’ll stay with SwitchCrafters switches. Good variety and decent prices.

Chuck, when I went to the Aristo site, I saw listings for just a few items and not the wide radius switches I was looking for. However, following your advice I entered the part number and found that they do exist, at least for now. But at $51.60, not $28 as you mentioned. Maybe yours are not the wide radius ones.

Joe
Chuck ordered aluminum - they are cheaper.

Brass are $51.60 minus 30% = $36.12.
That is a pretty good price.
