In the interests of harmony

and saving my already pretty short temper, I here by solemnly declare that I will not post anything to do with American politics or politicians, unless it impinges in areas covered by the interests, aims and prospects of the National Rifle Association, of which I admit to be a card-carrying member for life.

What happened was I realised what a nose-poking busybody I must have seemed to many on the forum, being a furriner and all with only a selfish axe to grind. There are some things that should be left to those who have a vote, rather than those who just wish they had.

Hi fellow member! I started as a Junior member of the NRA at age 16, Life at 21 and have now upgraded to Endowment.

Sheesh Terry, I thought that was your downpayment for the “sweet hereafter” aka “the old soldier’s just dessert”. :stuck_out_tongue:

tac,
I like to know what others think, especially our friends, and others, from other parts of the world. By asking if you were voting in the election, I was not inferring that your opinion didn’t count. I was trying to determine your stake in the matter.
Your post to Brian was full of hostility and veiled threats. It may not have been intended that way, but sure came across as such.
I have had more than one case of the “ass” here myself. If it was a case of your temper getting the best of you, it happens.
I certainly harbor no hostility towards you.
I am still interested in your opinions, whether I’m in agreement or not. If we were all in agreement, we wouldn’t have much to talk about, would we ?
Ralph

I’ll be happy if I get enuff strength back in my hands to make trains agin…

and Like it or not, who we elect as our next president does have global implications so it’s good to hear a “furriner’s” point of view…

I didn’t say how long ago “21” was. Life membership was a mere $125 at that time, I was mad because it had just gone up from $100. Even the Endowment was the result of a recent special deal.

Dear Mr Berg - I'm all opinioned out right now, but it's good to know that you harbour no ill will towards a nosy furriner. But I mean what I have written - from now on it's trains only for me - and my opinions certainly don't count for anything where the USA is concerned.

If I have any from now on, I’ll keep them well behind my teeth, that way I might save them from getting punched in.

Even how the American Federal Reserve handles its internal financial matters has a direct effect on the world economy, so the election of a new president will have far more reaching effects. Until China assumes the role (or Russia resurrects its superpower status by ‘encouraging’ neighbouring ‘free’ states back into the fold), American politics will impact on the lives of all citizens of this world, not just those who have a say in who actually gets the job.

Maybe next time around someone will have the wisdom to not elect a gun-toting ex-beauty queen to prop up an ailing possible president. I must admit that I unfortunately believe that Americans are not yet ready for a black president and would prefer to go the safe route and elect a sick, dying president and a beauty queen vice-president who cannot even control her own household, let alone the fate of the world. One piece of gratifying news that is at least ‘President’ McCain will have nothing to do with neo-cons. One must consider the very real possibility that this ‘young’ governor from Alaska probably knows less about world politics than George Dubya did, even after winning his second nomination and could quite conceivably attain office by default. Are the ex-Hillary votes that important that the state of the nation boils down to conning the voters who want a woman in the oval office at all costs?

Harmony Hell!

Conflict is that wonderful situation that goads us into creative thinking and actions.

This floundering country of ours was born of conflict, has stuck it’s nose into others when not wanted or needed.

Our biggest conflict is our own willingness to allow stupid, greedy ASHOLES to manipulate our country and our lives for their own greed.

So speak your mind, conflict is healthy, venting anger is a great way to relieve stress.

If enough people vent, then take a small bit of creative action, maybe we would see some change for the better.

I going to go now. Think I’ll run my new Bachmann rail trucks adound the layout a few times.

John.

Tim,
I could be wrong, but I don’t really think he made the move to go after the “Hillary” women. McCain was trailing in the poles badly. He needed to hit a home run.
By selecting Mrs. Palin, I think he was trying to show he was the real “champion” of change. Pick the Washington outsider. That seems to be his message now…they are the political mavericks who will change how things are done.

tac,
It is your choice to make. I hope I didn’t play a part in your decision. I certainly don’t want to be responsible for any censorship, self imposed or not.
Ralph

OK let me ask this, what is the difference between a life membership in the NRA and the NMRA? Hardly any, it takes a “special” type for both.

Well, there is one that thing that unites us, one thing we have in common…

There ya go.
I always thought, from the Freedom mag, that “endowment” was what happened when you died.
Here I was getting all ready for a wake, and you’re still kicking.
