Sorry , I did not intend it to be a political football . Shame some saw it that way . My loyalty to friends does not allow me to sit back and say nowt .

uuuummmmmm...... ducks.... good gumbo.... ;-)
We (Northern Californians) make seafood gumbo using Zatarain’s Gumbo Mix. My wife and I would like to know how to make gumbo using duck.
Thanks & Happy RRing,
Jerry Bowers
At great personal risk , I have to ask , WTF is gumbo ?
Knowing my luck , it’s probably an acronym for a little known political party .
Mike
Mike,
If you like food, you would like Gumbo.
A blend of spicy French and Indian food from the deep South.
My favrit Cajun dish is Bouillabaisse .
But that was back before I had all my stomach problems.
Now I have to eat bland crap like steak and mashed spuds.
j
I’ve had Bouillabaise ,and it was very good , but it wasn’t spicy . So maybe that’s one Cajun dish that isn’t .
Mind you , I had the b/baise in France . Perhaps the Southern Gen’mun have to eat rotten fish and cover the taste with spice , as in curry which does the same , hence Delhi Belly . When I had to go to India , I took a suitcase of Mars Bars to keep me alive by not noshing local stuff . That’s my travel tip of the week , folks .
That and bottled water .
John , if all your innards were still there , you’d only get fat . People pay for tummy tucks , don’t they ? I know yours was a bit more than that , more an open cast mine job .
Mike
Mike… i’m sorry you have had the misfortune of being located where you are… gumbo is a gently boiled creation… basically cleaning out the refrigerator…
it is a “soup” made from a roux… a dark one… i’ll try to write down the recipe the next time we make a pot… it is not hard… just cant bring it off the bald spot at the moment…
Jerry… Zatarains… it be okay… sorta… but… if you eat a properly prepared pot… you will chunk rocks at Zatarains… now they do make really good seasonings…
the meat in gumbo can be any duck, chicken, goose, guinea (quite tasty obnoxious little bird), sausage… etc… and it must include okra… and served over rice… looks rough… tastes great…
then again… there is ms.freddies crawfish etoufee… etc…
Need some boudin on the side with some red beans and dirty rice…then you got a laripin fer sur’ repas…guaranteed!

Young Mike…
If you forward your email address to Marvin, myself, Deryck, Bart, or Ken…you will immediately be included in the “Cycle of Fiends”, and if you really feel up to it; the Branch Railrodian Fellowship.
Bart will soon after, introduce you to the other part of the Fellowship; the Loyal order of the “Preservers of the Bay of Fundy Farting Clams”
Without your Email address, you just don’t know what in heck you are missing…
Now, after digesting that bit of trivia…I’ll add, that if you send me your telephone number…include all the numbers I would have to dial, to reach you…I’ll promise at least one bed time story a month…or three wake up calls, if you prefer.
Fr.Fred
…funny…
I just posted to another thread, about the “Looking Glass” experience…guess it should have been posted here…
Oh well…guess in the whole scheme of things; it doesn’t really mater…!!!

Personally I prefer “Smothered Chicken”

I don't look in the mirror anymore. 'Cause all I see reflected back is some old, grizzled, grey haired fart. It's depressing. Seems you lose your youth overnight. :) :) As to the other crap in Wash DC, I ignore it all. I don't need the added stress to go along with the above mirrored image. j
Spot on, on both counts.
I don’t watch TV, I listen to the radio. Hitting the OFF button is quicker than looking for a remote.
BTW the “old grizzled” was brought up the other night - in regards to getting all those seniors dicounts - one of my friends was of the opinion that I could pass for 71 or 49 depending on what the situation called for and if I wanted to fool someone. We all had a really good laugh.
I suspect that, after a long time, it is a good idea to renew the thread on Branch Railroadians.
The Branch Railroadian Fellowship is open to all, and is not a religious order, or a threat to anyone…
What really rots my shorts, is what is happening at "Ground Zero, with this Mosk thingy being built there…does no American care ?
None of the major media seem to even have a thought about it…I for one think it is a stab in the back of every victim of the disaster in NY City…
Do New Yorkers, or Americans not care ?
Or is the whole story a farce and is not true ?
Where do we go to find out the truth of what is being built on the site of the first real threat to the freedom of all citizens of North America ?
I know…yes this is a Model Railroad web page, but our freedoms are at stake, and I care…does anyone else ?
Count me on the same side of thought as you, Fr. Fred. It was breathtaking to imagine just the chutzpah required to propose that project.
Is everyone in North America so hung up on Political Corectness, that the media and citizens of America…no…NORTH AMERICA, won’t stand up and say NO WAY…Ground Zero is not a place for ANY Religious Extremous gang of thugs to make a statement…?
OK…I’ve said my piece…I’ll shut up…It’s you Americans, that have to stand up and say NO WAY…do you have the guts to do it ?..I’ll sit back and watch…
Padre,
If you get your shorts in a knot about ALL the crap that’s going on in the world … you will be really tightly wound before you have your coffee in the morning.
