The Great Train Expo at Pomona CA July 23-24 Pomona, CA Fairplex.
Mike,
I think its your job to start it. How many days before it starts? Is this what used to be the “The Big Train Show” on the Queen?
The BTS was a couple of weeks ago in Ontario. They moved it from the boat. Advertised as all scales but 90%of vendors were large scale, the smaller scales mainly had the modular railroads on display. I see that the York Show has a count down administered by the webmaster. That is all. As of today, 50 days and counting down. This is the show that Yogi Wallace usually goes to. As a structure fabricator, I want to spend some time with him and absorb as much knowledge and tricks of the trade as I can.
Hi Mike,
I knew what you were referencing. If Bob could go to your west coast show, he might show more enthusiasm for it. He’s probably open for an invite.
The GTE shows are mostly HO and like. That’s based on past shows. I am thinking of going but only to look for a couple specific Marx goodies. Last GTE show had only a few LS vendors.
I’m saving my $$$ for the Southwest Garden Railroad Show at Fairplex in November. I thoroughly enjoyed getting together with some of you at last year’s show.
Doug Arnold said:Doug, This is the one I'm saving for also. Hope we can run on the Fairplex layout again. I have a new Airwire G2 to tryout in my Accucraft #346! AND I hope we can meet up this year.

Is there enough demand for me to put up an event calendar of some sort, that members can add to?
If you want we can make this a team effort. I’ll contact Bob at Fairplex and set us up with a time to run trains and we can make our “meeting” at the same time. Wtll Saturday work best?

What would you allow? Could we include Club meeting notices?
Saturday morning is good for John Miller and I
Can I run my Vader loco? LOL I would just be concerned about back-blast and effects on track side items…

Yea, pretty much anything. I envision a couple of “classes” of events. Club and Show. Show events would also get a countdown on the front page, like the spring York show does now. Club events would be on the calendar itself.
Hmm…
I think that would be nice to have.
The GTE is a roaming show, comes to California several times a year, definitely less of a large scale draw than the Ontario BTS (Big Train Show, ex-queen mary) (late may, early june) and the SWGRS (SouthWest Garden Railroad Show) that is a recent addition, at the Pomona Fairgrounds / Fairplex. (late october, early november)

Can I come?
Bob,
That sounds great!
Mike,
See, all you had to do is start the idea.

bob - that’s a great idea. could help some of the smaller shows get some added attendance. I usually can only make the SE show in Darien Ga as its close to home, but with seeing when other shows are, and club shows epecially maybe could plan my company travel to coincide with other events I’m not always aware of.
