Hot Rods and Muscle Cars

Buddy of mine used to have a Prowler. Also more show than go. Could have used a Super Charger. His was the same color. Very sharp ride. Ralph

Having had an old Ghia convertible, I would never recommend one. The only way I could get heat in that was to open the window. Seemed to defeat the purpose. I'm on my 3rd Miata and it's been a MUCH better car. AC, power windows, and a top that goes up or down in about 3 seconds. Fun to drive.
Agree, I am on Miata #3 also. Silver power retractable hard top. Blast to drive on Tennessee and Kentucky winding roads. Zoom Zoom. Doc Tom

Well I’m going to throw a log on the fire here.
I can’t see spending mega bucks on some auto to go from point a to point b and do it for more than the cost of my first house.
It must be an ego thing.
If we would live life a little less to the fullest we would be better off.
I just need basic transportation.
If the trains would be available I wouldn’t even own a car, let alone some over rated mega bucks machine that is way over priced.
I only want to go from here to there and do it as economicly as I can.

Well David,
I drive a 30 year old truck. I’m quite happy with it.
But, I can still appreciate a fine automobile
Ralph

Oh well, I guess that I will have to feel guilty(not!) cause I bought a 200mph car as the probably the last one I will have to buy…Just going to go out in style and hopefully not in a ball of fire! LOL…As Tim the “Toolman” Taylor said " More Power!"…Enough of the Hot Rod stuff, got to get back to constructing my buildings…

David it really depends on two factors. A : Do you derive enjoyment from driving fast and carving the corners? B : Do you consider your car mearly as a convenience, or as a tool to be used to its fullest extent, an extension of your abilities. Most people dont. They view driving as just something they have to. And thats fine. But for some of us driving is a passion. Something enjoyable and best done in a vehicle that maximizes the pleasure. For some it might be a high performance car blasting down the interstate, or a agile convertable tooling down a backroad or even any car that the driver enjoys driving just for the driving.

I hate to drive, until I get into my MGA. Then I want to swap some paint.

I hate to fly, until wheels up in a small, nimble airplane that I strap to my butt, rather than get into. Then I want to tear the wings off her.

SWMBO thinks I’m an idiot. She may be right, who knows.

Some don’t understand why we “waste” good money on expensive toys that do nothing but follow a predetermined course laid out in miniature rail. Some don’t understand why others enjoy driving. I’ve had people comment about both cars and trains telling me to my face we are nothing but grown children playing with expensive toys. Sounds about right to me.

For the Miata owners…Removes gloves…slap

All in fun…

Mark!!! LMFAO! So very very true!

BTW: A recent study reveals that one of the reasons BMW and (spoiler alert!) two other luxury vehicles popped up on the list of least-stolen vehicles is that these types of cars have excellent ignition immobilizers, which prevent vehicles from being hot-wired.

“It’s a technical issue,” he says, explaining that one of the reasons pickups are popular amongst thieves is that, until recently, they didn’t have immobilizers as part of their standard equipment package.

Plus the fact most high end cars are not left outside at night…

<< I hate to drive, until I get into my MGA. Then I want to swap some paint. >>

I can tell that by the shape it is in.
When’s the last time you did that, Steve.? 1957?

Like I said, give it to me and I’ll do something with it.

Tell it, Preacher!!! :)

Some flavor of 2-seater roadster is definitely on my “someday” list. We’ve got too many cool mountain roads out here not to pull the top back and go for a drive. Saw an ad for an MG shortly after I graduated from college and almost bought it. The phrase “spare motor included” made me a bit gunshy, though. That, and I was living in upstate NY at the time–convertible season falls on the second Tuesday in August. For now, I’m confined to SUV-dom. On the other hand, there are too many cool jeep trails out here not to have a 4x4.

Later,

K

That was pretty cool…but not all Miatas are fluff cars. Here is an interesting picture of Spec Miata racing.

And Please try to get out and let people not forget even if it;s a simple Flag.

Nick

Nick for Prsident SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON Sorry a little drinky time done tonight to celebrate and remember all soles that were lost 10 Years ago and you Americans should as well…God Bless our Country.

What I like about “Spec” racing is it removes the car from the equation and replaces it with driver vs driver skills.

Apples and oranges. Yes, the M6 is faster, but its a different class of car.

True.
I wouldn’t race a Go cart against an Indy car, but I would like to race either one in it’s own class.
