I guess we were both young once, however my thoughts always go to -

“I’m growing older but not up my metobolical state has pleasently stopped, let the winds of time blow over my head, I’d rather die while I’m living, than live while I’m dead” - Jimmy Buffett

I really loved BHO’s on-camera denial of any knowledge of Blago’s intentions to sell the Senate seat. He was stammering in the form of “I didn’t . . .” I had no . . . " and finally got a coherent sentence put together stating his total lack of knowledge about anything relating to IL politics. Looked to me like a deer caught in the headlights.

This little charade was running opposite a senior BHO transition advisor saying that he (the advisor, not BHO) had some discussions with Blago, but the Senate seat subject was not discussed. Now about that bridge that is for sale . . .

I wonder how long it will take our president elect to reign in the FBI and justice department, getting these investigations and attacks on his corrupt political machine totally stopped. Now that is Change We Can Believe In!

Happy RRing,

Jerry

Hit the wrong key: Deleted.

Jerry,
Just a wee bit cynical, are you?

Many people are saying that Governor Rod is truely the most honest of politicians. And because he has honestly stated that this is how politics really works, he has upset the other politicians that thought we didn’t know. What the hell are Lobbiests, all the junkets, political contributions and patronage jobs?

One of the politicos has already come up with an excuse to keep him away from our chamber meeting tonight. The other was just elected, so he actually may still be a little bit honest. Yes, I’m an optomist. Actually I’m a Rotarian, but that’s another subject.

Ric,

Even if you rotate, that’s still better than a Ventilator.  (Yes, Santa made me do it) :stuck_out_tongue:

““We go round in circles, really fly high, like a bird up in the sky””

I thought that was “Billy go round in circles”? At least that was one of “the Pervert’s” pick up lines.

They apparently have "honesty" confused with "stupidity" =) Ralph

Ralph,

Ralph,

You said - "They apparently have “honesty” confused with “stupidity”.

Yes, I think he was stupid, but his failure is that he felt everyone else wanted the “pay to play” routine to be out in the open. You know maybe put the Senate position on Ebay.

But why do you say that? He said he would be honest and he was? The other politicians, the liars and cheats didn’t appreciate being exposed. He did what every other politican does. He gave rewards for contributions through votes, donations or favors. He just didn’t hide it. If somebody wants that Senate position, its going to cost 1/2 a million, unless I can get more.

Why is nobody saying anything about Kennedy buying the Hillary seat, (whew that’s a bad illustration) the Senate seat of New York? I guess that is considered on the up and up?

Now really tell me you thought people went in to politics to serve the people.

Ric,
As I said earlier, these kind of deals are made all the time. On a smaller scale, even in our own communities for local elections.
If you are running for the Senate with the backing of either major party, you have made a bunch of deals to get there.
Ralph

The only thing that "old Blogey"was stupid about was that he thought everyone knew what went on and admitted it. Now that is stupid.

The Chamber Meeting had the newly elected State Rep show up. He was full of promises about how he was going to work for the people. He’s gotten good at shaking hands with everyone. But his wife was there with him, smiling. Right now she is walking pretty good and looks healthy.

The old established State Senator couldn’t make it tonight. He apologized that he had to stay home to take care of his wife that was recovering from a knee injury and surgery. The rumor is he used a 5 lb sledge on her knee for the excuse, yesterday morning. Politics can be a nasty business.

Latest update is that the Attorney General of Illinois tried to have the Illinois Supreme Court remove the Governor and they refused the case, without comment. So the only way to remove him is now through impeachment and by law, the Attorney General (who tried to have him removed) may have to defend him against the impeachment by the Legislature. But since the Attorney General has shown bias against him by applying to the Illinois Supreme Court, the State may have to provide him with a private attorney. Did I mention that the Attorney General is the daughter of a prominent Democratic Legislature in Illinois politics and the Governor is the son in law of another prominent Democratic Legislature. These are the politics that Obama came from. I’m not sure Washington, DC is ready for the big leagues of politics.

Oh Ken, he didn’t walk out of it, he took it with him.

Ric you keep insisting that Obama has some relation to this, and of course, he might, but there is not a shred of evidence to support this, and in fact Blago is on tape cursing Obama because he won’t play ball. There’s isn’t any evidence to support the argument you’re making, and there is plenty of evidence to suggest the exact opposite.

It’s like arguing that Sarah Palin is a drug addict because Levi Johnston’s mother is an oxycontin or meth dealer. There’s no evidence whatsoever to support that, but they come from the same town, their kids went to the same school, etc etc.

It’s not unlike, say, Murtha calling all people in central PA racists because some people are. I remember how annoyed you were by that. Guilt by association–it’s very unfair, unless, apparently, you’re doing it to someone else.

Mike,
Obama came up through Chicago politics. Chicago Politics are corrupt. His relationship with Rezko, Daley and others are established and really not a question. Blagojevich did the same. You need to except that Chicago is a bad place. I’m sure you and your profession will try your best to rewrite history to satisfy your liberal agenda, but somethings are just going to have to be accepted. We have accepted that Obama is President, but it is not going to change my opinion of him. I don’t believe anyone has denied how Obama eliminated his opponents in Illinois politics. That is how things are done in Chicago. Many people in this part of the State do not vote for people from Chicago, because we feel their form of politics is corrupt, illegal and wrong. We have a problem because we just always loose, mainly because we don’t count dead people in this part of the State.

Cheap shot at Sarah Palin, didn’t work this time either.

murtha is liberal scum that should be spat at, but not worth the spit. His opinion on anything is worthless. What he tried to say about central Pennsylvania people means nothing because of what he said about our soldiers and Marines. My annoyance with murtha is for breathing or being alive, not for his opinion.

Guilt by association is a fact of life, live with it.
