Since I prefer rock-steady video - the jiggly stuff goes much better with strippers - it was time to have another go at the “ïn-cab” aka dashboard camera set-up.
I find the bounce and rattle very annoying when pacing a train or shooting another road trip; another kick at the can and another road test …
I think that’s as good as it gets short of a gyro set-up.

That’s one item off today’s program.
That looks OK Hans , but you’re driving on the wrong side of the road .
Mike
Y…Yo…You mean Left is Right?
Too cornfusing
John,
Not to worry, it all depends where you’re from and where you’re going. Back when I lived in Sweden (half of 66/part of 67) they still drove on the left. Hitting the Norwegian border or getting off the ferry in Denmark was always entertaining. Meanwhile (Sept 1967) the Swedes smartened up and now drive like the rest of the European continent … on the right hand side of the road.
Red designates the parts of the globe that drives on the right, blue is for the rest.
Just to point out, as if it really is necessary, that that teeny little triangular blue place just off the coast of France once owned well over half of the red bits.

But we’re not going all the way back in history, are we? For what it’s worth
Today, about 65% of the world’s population live in countries with right-hand traffic and 35% in countries with left-hand traffic.[3] About 90% of the world’s total road distance carries traffic on the right and 10% on the left.[4]Right-hand traffic predominates across the continental landmasses, while the majority of the world’s island nations and territories drive on the left.
Apparently it’s one of those insular oddities.
BTW the list at the start of the thread is not quite complete i.e. it is a work in progress. Additions are

No , Hans , you have it all wrong again .
Imagine (if possible) you are a warlike colonising smartass Brit . Which hand would you use for holding your sword ? As most are left handed , it’s the right , right ?
So there you are , fully armed up and riding along the muddy old backward roads we have here , and coming toward you with evil intent (actually , they aren’t in a tent , you understand ) is a similarly armed ratbag , so you grab your sword from its scabbard (sorry if this is too technical) and hi forth at a gallop toward said bag of rattage .
Do you pass him on his left ? NO , he might be left handed . You pass him on your right swinging merrily with your weapon in the hope of removing some of his vital parts .
So , you see , from this , it makes sense ride on the left , right ? Think tilting . So we , in our wisdom , exported this habit all round the world that we ruled and a few other dumps as well . Regrettably , in a sulk and to show independence , a lot of them swapped sides . No other reason , just silliness . So there .

There are days when I wonder why certain people bother; the addition to this thread was about an improvement to get better video when shooting from the vehicle since shooting video is one of my hobbies.
Those who watch(ed) my on-the- road videos on VIMEO know what it’s all about. Those who don’t can probably guess: it’s about getting the best results possible, given the tools and skills.
Hans , I made a joke---- J_O_K_E ’
You promptly turn it into a lecture .
Lighten up .
Mike
Oh yes , I did make the comment that your video looked ok . Sorry you missed it .
YOUR VIDEO WAS OK . ok?
The difference

on freshly placed asphalt and the “as before” bridge.
Obviously , whatever you have done has removed the speed bumps from the equation , too . I hope that other camera users can benefit .

Back to that list of hobbies in the SP.

The weather was perfect, the tracks were very fast and we had a really good time. Having to slow done on the downhills is for Raven’s benefit, her in full out gear is still a bit too slow in these conditions. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)And staying in the tracks makes it even faster, as SWMBO found out today. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-embarassed.gif)(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-innocent.gif)
BTW # 18 is her season pass number, new rule this year: dogs need a pass and all relevant data of the dog needs to be on file. That’s thanks to some yahoos who couldn’t follow/use common sense the past two seasons.
PS Raven is a dark-faced Seppala Husky.
Boy I wish I had enough snow got get out the XC skis… I waxed and got them already but I’m waiting for decent/enough snow on the logging roads. Right now it’s bare rocks, and mud. I’ve hit the apline slopes with my high school students a few times with Ski Club but when the temps are in the 50+ and spring like conditions it doesn’t look like our last trip next Thursday is going to be any better.
Your right, staying in the tracks is much, much faster!

Yep and as it is we all need the occasional reminder. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)SWMBO had a very good reason for her face plant, but it was too good to post here. I’ve done a couple of summersaults down those when I was a kid trying to stay in the tracks… First week apline skiing with the high school students, I hit a jump on accident and went flying… Poles when one way, skis another, and I tumbled down, down, down… Sprained my ankle real good as well. And that’s why I don’t go off the jumps! (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif)

I hear you. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)Back when I was still ski-hosting I had this hot-shot couple one day who wanted to do something a bit more challenging. So off we went (classic skis) up the mountain, a 5k continuous climb with minimal undulations. The two were at least 15 years younger than me but I was setting the pace. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)i.e. never say die.
Going down the other side it was nicely packed, perfectly groomed and fast as could be. At the bottom there’s a section called the Stairs. I was out on the skate groomed portion and behind me I heard the “Holy sh…, talk about getting some good air.”
Ski-hosting was a volunteer position (and lots of fun), but at the end of the day I found out that they left $20 for the best ski they had all Winter.
XC skiing; two big items tomorrow:
in the not so good department: Switch to daylight savings time, (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-yell.gif)(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-yell.gif)for some reason it’s always on the same day as the Sovereign Lake Loppet (or vice versa).
in the good department: should be a super fast Freestyle (skating) race, overnight forecast at -1ºC, daytime high +3ºC.
Nope, I’m not in the race, I’m volunteering — first time since the 2010 Olympics and Para. Latest email advice: dress in layers (really?! (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-surprised.gif)(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-innocent.gif)) bring the sunscreen and the shades.
