Large Scale Central

Hello All

Hello Everyone,

I’ve never been super active on this forum, so I wanted to introduce myself. Some of you know me as BakerJohn on G-Scale Central. For those of you who may not…
I am a 22-year old pastry cook from Western Massachusetts who is relatively new into this hobby (bought my loco this past January). I have the beginnings of the Leeds Hill Railroad out in the garden. Basically it is a loop at the moment, but the plan is to make it much bigger! My railroad’s theme is New England lines such as the Providence & Worcester, Boston & Maine, Sandy River & Rangeley Lakes, and Pan Am. At the moment my only loco is the Forney (LGB - Sandy River & Rangeley Lakes) for which I have found 6 pieces of rolling stock to match. At the moment my loco is in the shop getting rewired to use battery power and R/C rather than track power. You can see all that I have done on my railroad on my website (see signature).
I am interested in visiting other hobbyists’ gardens whenever possible so please let me know if there’s any kind of event! I can bring something sweet to snack on! I’d bring my loco too, but I doubt it’ll be up and running soon. I’m still waiting on a part from the UK.

I fully intend to be more active on this forum as well as GSC, so I’ll talk to you all soon!

~ John

Hi John,

Welcome.

Hello, John.

Thank you for using your real name, and indicating your general location.

You are very much welcome here.

I’m up in Ottwa Ontario, Canada, and you would be most welcome to visit, if you don’t mind the distance.

We are completely R/C Battery here, and have been for more years than I can remember. We have a web page at: www.ovgrs.org/

John,

Just a “short” drive from Leeds is Littleton, July 27/28/29 - there is TrainOps! Two very cool railroads in one weekend: Bob McCown’s Nashoba Valley Transportation Company in Littleton and Stan & Deb Ame’s S.J.R&P in Chelmsford. Meet lots of great people and get lots of questions answered! And they LOVE food! We’re not able to make it this year, but it’s a wonderful event.

Welcome John! I’m a fellow New Englander out of Glocester, RI. Also have an affinity for NE lines and baked goods.

Hi John.

I always look for an excuse to visit Canada! Perhaps next summer when I have more free time (as my vacation days are all planned this year)! Thanks Fred!

Thanks Bruce! I’ll look into it. I’ll be working part of that weekend, but perhaps I can head out for a day or two.
