Here’s the same animation, now out on the layout. Sorry about the low audio; it’s louder when you’re up near it.

Hmm…not seeing anything. But the still in the earlier post sure looked good!

Aha…I think I found it!

Man, that is just SO impressive! (Too bad there’s no soul in that model! (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-foot-in-mouth.gif)Yeah, right!(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif))

Great work!

Thanks Bruce!

I’d copied the embed code on YT, pasted it in the Embed tab box of the LSC edit-post video insert, but nada. So I pasted the YT URL in the same LSC Embed box, and it worked for me, but sounds like not for you.

Splain?

[edit] Just saw your second post Bruce, haha! I had to think a minute to remember, but yeah, “soul,” just like Marc said. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-foot-in-mouth.gif)

Thanks brutha!! (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)

Well, I’m afraid that your efforts just make the ruling official: “You’re buffle-headed!” (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-foot-in-mouth.gif)

Still, very nice work.

While discussing how to protect the trestle & animation bits with my wife, she had a great idea: make a clear acrylic cover for just the trestle deck area. So here’s what that design looks like. It’ll have weatherstrip where it contacts the walls (mainly around the doors).

I’ll still bring the whole trestle deck / shed / garage assembly indoors for the winter, probably.

This morning I re-took this shot. Dang, I still missed clearing out a leaf or two!

Cliff,

On a serious note…I’m quite concerned about the acrylic laying flat like that and being exposed to UV and heat. My experiences have NOT been very good with the acrylic laying flat outside. (However this is just my experience)!

I really have nothing more to say on your build other than “Priceless” !

Thanks Rooster, you’re way too kind!!

Yeah, I’m concerned about that as well… So when it really starts coming apart, plan B is to modify a PVC rain gutter and park it upside down over the trestle.

Cliff,

My (experience) with acrylic is it stands straight up just fine but not laid flat (as it will bow something crazy that cannot be fixed with heat and a cinder block). Jon Radder can confirm this with his cigar store.

Not really …I’m a “peckerhead” just ask around the bar a bit!

I made the trestle cover today. Unfortunately, my cement hazed up! Not done that before, and it makes the thing pretty sucky-looking. Oh well, I hope it does the job at least. Next time (when this cracks up) I’ll use an inverted piece of PVC gutter and call it a day.

On a more successful note, I completed my two contributions to a silent auction in October (for the V&T Historical Society). I didn’t have anything V&T-ish that I wanted to part with, so I traced a couple monograms and made a coaster set.

Inspired by some creations my Dave Bodnar, I cut & etched a monogram for a color-changing / remote controlled night light sort of thing.

The top monogram in the coaster set says “V&TR” and was created by the late Dale Darney, long time V&T historian. The above monogram is ca. 1880’s. It takes a bit to make out the lettering, but it says “V&TRWCo.”

Unbelievable work!

You could paint it…

Yep, I might… But since my wife likes it as it is (and it was her idea for the acrylic cover), I’ll let it it go. For now.

Then don’t freaking touch it ! However you might want to clean up that murder scene to the right of the pile before the wife sees it !

Rooster, They can’t touch anything until CSI finishes, jeeze, don’t you watch any TV.(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-foot-in-mouth.gif)

Now that’s funny! I don’t care who you are.

Since the structure is so detailed to a time, I assumed the Railroad Dicks would have whisked that body back on it’s feet in no time!

I was wondering if anyone would notice that… The little dude fell over when I was parking the cover, but my Give-A-Crap needle was flat-lining.

But of course our ever-vigilant Rooster noticed, haha! Thanks Roo!
