Large Scale Central

Hale & Norcross Dump Trestles

Sort of like this?

I think they have changed things. But the basic premise is that you need the embed code - and you NOW get it by right clicking on the video. You don’t get to see it, but it gets copied to the clipboard and you can paste that in the embed section.

Thanks Bruce! And I didn’t see the “embed” tab before, that oughta help! (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-foot-in-mouth.gif)

OMGram …get a job Cliff !!

Love it!!!

H&N belongs in a museum for education purposes not outside on your layout (just my opinion )

Thanks Rooster!!

PS:

Hmm. David M. said that as well. And I shudder in the knowledge that the two polar Davids may be in planetary alignment, in the skies directly over my sorry a$$!! Not sure how to grasp all this; maybe I’ll take it as a sign that I should rethink my life…

Where’s my meds…

I agree, the damn thing needs to be indoors in the winter at least.

Cliff I would really like you to sign my ass! I’ll bring the sharpie !!

Bruce was the VERY first to sign it !!

You know Rooster, I was pretty relieved when I saw the photo you posted. I had no idea where we were heading…

Nobody knows where he is heading. That’s why so many people ask "Why did the chicken cross the road?’ Because no one knows where he is heading.

Well you should have seen Bruce’s look when I asked him to sign my ass in the Alcove a few years ago! However I did provide him with a sharpie and not only did he sign my ass but he signed a backup one as well. Just in case my ass gets filled up I will have a back up ass in a safe place. However the controllers of that safe house may someday want their ass wrecked as well. Thinking as I write this perhaps it might not be a good back up plan after all?

This post has been edited by ROOSTER: Cliff, Credits actually go to Jon Radder as it’s “all” his fault “this time” not yours !

Final installation day!

Here’s my better half, Linda, taking the baby out.

And here the it is in place. Lots more parts to add, but this was the main thing. I put it on a 1/4" closed-cell neoprene pad, just to make sure no little concrete bit could point-load the acrylic and crack it.

After that, I did final top coating with krylon flat indoor-outdoor non-yellowing spray, the same stuff I always use. But with the second coat (under 10 mins later, per instructions), looked kinda hazy. And when I came back a half hour later, it really looked hazy. So I’ll have to maybe rub down flat surfaces, re-treat with a different product, or let the weather have a go and just not worry about it. Not sure, but that was quite a disappointment. Here you can see it:

Aside from that, things went great. The trestle plugged into place, and the electronics all worked. So I’m quite happy about gettin 'er done.

I’ll do some “landscaping” (piling rocks where stuff needs hiding), and take some final pics tomorrow.

That is shockingly cool, Cliff. Great job. When do we see a video of the animation being triggered by a train? (yes, we are never satisfied)…

amazing work!!!

i think, Rooster found the right words for it.

that is really something, one doesn’t see frequently!

did you open some bottle, to welcome it to the layout?

Thanks guys, I’m really glad you like it!

And Korm, indeed we did. I poured a couple glasses of wine and Linda and I imbibed while watching the animation.

I completed my “landscaping,” staged some trains, took some shots, and video’d the animation. Jim, I’m afraid that’s the closest I’ll get to your scenario, but that does sound cool.

I need to re-take the last one without the leaves and (behind the shed) tripod.

Thanks for all your camaraderie and participation through this my friends!

How well does that 3D printed stuff hold up in the heat and the sun? Any fading or warping? Or is it too soon to tell.

That whole thing is mighty impressive looking…(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

Thanks Ken!

The main structure has been out for a couple months, and so far I haven’t seen any problems with the 3d printed parts (ore chutes, the “rooster” on the weathervane), or the laser-cut stuff (all the sheathing, substructures, etc.).

What do you mean - this horse doesn’t MOVE??? (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-foot-in-mouth.gif)(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-embarassed.gif)

Well done indeed - looks mighty impressive!

Here’s the same animation, now out on the layout. Sorry about the low audio; it’s louder when you’re up near it.
