Ground Level Shooting

Since we have a special forum just for this…here is a ground level shot of the Diesel on the upper loop. I really enjoy the shots that Kevin provides for us in GR that show the “train” in the scene…

Cool shot! That branchline hasn’t been used much this year, has it?

ha! that was all the “green” I had for a while…now it’s all brown…as thunderstorm and downpour happen outside

It’s actually my “main” loop, but I do like the grown over look…

thanks!

I like the ground level shots the best. However, it is much harder to keep out unwanted background items. Ralph

I also like ground level shots,
but, alas, I can’t get up and down on my old knees or if I lie down, a crane is needed to get me back up!
So i put the camera on the ground and hope…

jb, just use your bobkitten to raise yourself back up.

I like photos taken from the point of view of the 1:29 railfan. To keep unwanted info out of the frame, just don’t put it in the frame. Photos are made, not just taken.

Ralph your 10 wheeler looks nice with the repaint!

Thanks Cale,
The only problem I have now is all the preschoolers called it Thomas when the tender was light blue. Now I’m looking for a real Thomas to replace it. Judging by the prices Thomas is fetching, there must be gold in that light blue paint!

Make Your Own!!!

Works like a champ…Del did the letters for me…9.6v in cab…Runs 8+ hours on one charge…it’s prob my fav to run!

By the way Cale,
How’s your wife doing?
Isn’t she due soon?
I may just take your advice and make a Thomas. The loco from the new Pico starter set would work nicely.
But I don’t think it will be available anytime soon.

Thank you for your kind words, Ralph.

The first and the last shots were taken on Jens Bang’s layout. The middle two were take on my layout.

Ralph,
thanks for asking about Carla…She is scheduled for a section on the 15th of July! The anticipation is growing here in the house!
Now if we could just pick a middle name…

cale

Steve,

Those are truly some beautiful photos. Very nice and the railroads involved look great too.

Cale,
Out of 8 children, we never had one by appointment!
Hope all goes well and keep us posted.
Ralph

Richard, you are very kind.

As you know, photos are made, not taken. If I had turned the camera a couple of degrees either way in any of those photos, a whole wealth of sin would have been exposed.

No HJ, I moved the still.

Those pictures are awesome!!!..however I cannot get a feel for the yellow Hummer considering the setting(era) as a whole? Just my thoughts? I’m trying the reverse here. The CVRR(Cumberland Valley) made our towns on their way to Harrisburg PA. I have material with written proof in my home(found a trim(casing) board with writing on it “Ship via CVRR” with the builders name as well…home was built in 1852 very cool IMO) Anyway I’m trying the reverse here…NS now owns the line …but what if the CVRR was still here and our historic buildings were still intact(many still are on the line) …How about a local running to Harrisburg from Hagerstown, MD. Stopping at little station stops on its way, such as the still existing Washington St. station in Mechanicsburg? My ground level shot of such. I’m no photo guru just taking pictures on the line as I see fit, allowing the camera to do the work on auto setting…lol

The station in it’s current state as owned by our local museum assoc.
