David,
Thank you for your praise.
That railfan is taking a photo of old GN 2042, just rebuilt in the museum shops. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!

That sure is some close clearance Not that I haven’t seen similar in real life…
here are a few shots that I took the other day when I had the Climax out of the box investigating the installed sound card. One thing that I notice from my photos is how the lack of scale plantings on the NBRR affect the total picture vs. Kevin’s postings of late…the “Lushness” of his layout really plays into the whole “feel” of things…to a much greater extent than I ever considered…the plantings are as much a “model” as is the motive power, buildings, etc…! cale [center]

The low angle and depth of field work in that one even with the full-size vegetation. It’s the best of the bunch.
Cale,
The photo Jon likes is very good. I especially like the B&W shot, much better than the same shot in color.
Sean and Ken, some very nice shots too.
Ralph
My problem with ground level shooting is the layout’s closeness to the house. To get away from any distracting background I have to shoot a picture looking downward a bit. But I built it there for convenience, so there are trade offs…

I love that guy’s pose. I’ve set the photo aside for figure making.

The guy who shows by how little they missed!
Well, I see the guy in the goofy hat who shows they missed by a whole bunch, and the fat guy who shows they missed by just a wee little bit. So, again I ask, which one?
Well… That photo was taken after they started up the little switcher and use every ounce of power it had to shove a string of passenger cars forward a few feet. Had they continued through the switch withouty the adjustment they wouldn’t have missed at all. I had several shots of this “indecent”, it was difficult to decide which one to use. Here’s a couple more taken before the move…

Tried a few up at Roger Cutter’s today. He’s got a few places where the background it just perfect.

This one is in front of Jack Thompson’s pump house and water tank. Nice work.

You are right.
Wonderful backgrounds in these pictures.
Ralph
Kewl. I seem to have been dropped from Roger’s events mailing list, so I probably could have run down there today iffen I’d know about it. It’s changed a lot since the last time I was there.
Carefully cropped out a 35 foot bus in this picture. Unfortunatly, had to cut out everything but the locomotive. This picture is an illusion in itself. The loco is higher and closer to the camera than the Interlocking tower and the worker. From the photo it looks as if the man and tower are dwarfed by the locomotive. Ralph
