Yoo Hoo, Mike, old Floon - Nossir, I did not steam it yet as I am still in Tokyo until saturday and the loco is in Cheltenham. But I am looling in front greatly to boiling some water in it next weekend afterwards.

It smaroon, too, my favourite colour for the NG/G16 - I have one already by ASTER, theSwiss Tree School version, that is.

Was talking to Mr Pearse of Accucraft UK, who is trolling around for interest on making the correct - number 140 - number and build plates for it. Mr Bryn the Builder at the Dinas rebuildery has already cast up the real thing, and VERY nice they lool too.

So if anyone out there has a maroon version and is interested in a set of plates, please let him know by e-mail as soon as ever you are able.

Please forgive the oddlapse into strange spelling - my laptop died from aheavy virus a three weeks after i arrived ehre, and my loaner is of course a Japanes OS laptop that insistsontranslating ewverything I write into romanji and then kanji - while i am writingit - hence the rather odd words every ‚P‚Ìw‚Ä‚á‚ñ‚Ä‚¥‚ñ AˆŸs—pŠÔ”wŠG AˆÉfˆÓƒŒƒAƒ”‚¥‚Ä‚¥‘¼b‚¨‚†‚†B

Still, I’m back now for a bit until we go off on our travels again - much steamingto be done with the 3 cylinder Shay and the simulated steam K-27 as too!

Best wishes to all from dark and gloony Tokyo

Take care ,

Gloony. Sounds positively Lewis Carrollish.

Yo Neil, Old Floon - Me and ig has never see a tail-less kipper.

Got to do some curve straightening on the VBR before we can run it properly though Got one pretty tight curve in the south east forty - that’s forty square inches, BTW - that will need a bit of easing. My Aster/LGB mike gets around it because it bends in the middle and my K-27 because it has blind drivers, but I might have to do a whole lot more rebuilding yet. Snot so easy, the ladder-style trackbed is well established and the uprights go down night in two feet…

Great shame there’s nobody anywhere near me with a suitable track, eh?

Best wishes from bright and sunny Tokyo morning - Ohayio Gozaimaaaaaaas!

er, not quite with you there , Tac . Did you mean a forty inch square ? It does sound as though you may have some major trackwork though .
But , But , I bet you run it as far as you can before you fix the track!!!
My pockets only stretch to LGB Garretts , electric . I doubt I could use the castings you mention on that .

Yo Mike - my layout, and I use the term loosely here, y’unnerstan’, fits into my 27 foot square backyard with about a yard all round for decency sake. In outline it somewhat resembles an a egg, but only if your name is Stevie Wonder.

As I noted, there will be some very severe rebuilding projects undertaken shortly, as I am now back in the Land of the NOT-Free, having arrived earlier this afternoon courtesy of that nice Mr Boing [odd name that, he should really have gone into spring making instead of aerioplanes].

Mrs tac has made me promise to reconstipate the garden where the deep piles for the previous incarnation of the roadbed was positioned, a task made easier by the fact that I shall still be using at least some of the previous up-rights in situ.

Needless to say, my 3-cylinder SHAY and all my sparkie geared lcos manage this teeny route with no problems, but having seen the Garratt running on Mr steamdraincocks all-too-short video clips on You Tube, it seems that I will need to make my track almost circular to run the Garratt, lacking anybody close-to-paw who would let me run on their track.

Ya know, Terry, English (or if you prefer, American) is my mother tongue. I am fluent enough in enough languages to be able to order a beer in almost any dockside bar in the world.

But I must say, I had trouble following your last post.

Mebbe I stayed too long in that last dockside bar in Kowloon, or was it Singapore, or Pubic Bay. I’m pretty sure it wasn’t in Majorca. It gets kinda fuzzy this late.

Anyway, I’ll try again tomorrow.

Steve, either I need some of what you’ve been drinking, or you need some of the meds I have to take…'cause TAC was perfectly clear to me…

Oh, missed you at the Xmas party tonight at Chucks…!!

My lovely bride and I were bustin’ our butts trying to get the house in order, and we just ran out of steam. The idea of a 1.5 hour trip one way, and then another 1.5 hr drive back was just a bit much, given the disarray we were in then. We had really planned to go, but the time just slipped away.

I take it the storm messed thing up a bit out there....:(

No, actually this was inside stuff we were working on. Remember, we had prepared for a move, so now we are putting the house back together again, going through boxes and deciding do we really need to keep this, can that be thrown away?

Tail-less kippers Tac? Who mentioned them? Time to worry is when you catch them from the sea ready smoked…and plastic wrapped…

I’m not sure the Carrott would operate on my R3 curves…you could always post it over for me to try…
LOL!

Oh, I see - my abuse of the writen language…I have the benefit of forgetting most of my edumacation now…

That any better?

Neil - your sign-line quite clearly states ‘From the land of tail-less cats, kippers…’

Now does that or does that not imply that your kippers are tail-less?

P.S. Sub-zero here in East Anglia for the last three days - stopped me from boiling water in the Shay…[gloon].

Terry;

Get that blasted “Double Ended Monstrosity” radio controled and bring it with you to Ottawa. We have the track for it to “Perform” on…I gather it is a live steamer. Add Kadee couplers…both ends.
If it is a track powered toy loco, then get Dave Goodson to convert it to Battery and Radio Control and get to play trains with us grown ups…!!!

Join the Battery/Radio Control Maffia......"We are appoachable with out a block system".
