Goldings gets a facelift

The original Goldings Freight Transfer was thrown together in a hurry to fill an empty spot on the new section in Hesperus. Having outlived it’s usefulness, it was time for an upgrade, something I’d been contemplating for awhile. As you can see, it was rather small.

The new one is about twice as large as befits a successful business enterprise.

Nice start to a new building Ken. What are you using for the base? Where do you get your door and windows from?

As on the Creamery, the doors and windows are from Precision Products, sold by Ozark Miniatures. The base is that 3/4"PVC board with 1"square pieces around the bottom to add some height. Those same size pieces are used on the inside corners.

Had to order more siding and roofing and some 1/4"angle for the trim.

Neat. I like the use of the screws to hold the building together; I might have to try that for my next project. What siding are you planning on using?

I ordered the 6" lap siding, the same as what’s on the original. Same color too.

The PVC base I glued together with PVC cement used by plumbers. It has screws in it too. The sides are screwed and glued with good ol’ trusty Goop…

I notice that the Coca Cola sign has held up well. How did you manage that?

When I took that particular picture, it was only a couple of hours hold…

Nice, I like the new loading dock features.

Got a few more things done on it.

Ya sure work quick, Ken. It’s like you’re being paid by the job, not by the hour. Looks pretty neat too.

So what’s next?

Just like to keep busy, Joe. And I can always find somethin out on the layout that could use improvement.

What’s next is waiting for for my order to get here…

Looks good you can send that old one my way. That would be perfect for a logging layout

It’s all yours…just have to come and get it…

Dam your quick Ken. I might have to take you up on that. There is always York unless we can get you to come up to Scranton for the steam up.

She’s pleased.

Got a bit more done on it. Still waiting on some more 1/4" angle for the trim. It’s back ordered.

Nice progress, Ken…

The project is coming along very well Ken. Great work.

Really very nice work…

It was a relief to see the title to this string referred to a location/industry on your railroad. I thought maybe Ric was going under the knife for a sagging chin or something. heehee!

Anyway nice job on Golding’s.
