I took the decision this past week to close my website, glxscalemodels . As most of you know, I sell Aristocraft replacement parts on a part time basis.
The costs to own and run a website are high especially here in Canada where we are taxed more and our dollar has a 25% purchasing disadvantage over the USD.
The number of sales was beginning to not cover the expense of the website. Marking up the prices is not always the best way. For the garden railroader, finding a donor engine or railcar becomes more and more the better financial option to make that jewel of a model perfect.
Another sales venue had to be found to keep providing my good customers, you, the garden railroader a way to keep your Aristocraft collection running or in great shape at a reasonable price.
The good news is, I have a new shop at Shapeways Marketplace. The parts are now listed in the new shop at Shapeways 3D Printing Marketplace
I ask that you make your purchase at Shapeways, a large 3D printing on demand manufacturer for consumers. Artisans, like me, each have a virtual shop and we list the models we have designed. You just have to buy a print of the part you need. It is made on demand.
The shop has about 100 of the most popular parts I created for replacements in the past years. The quality of 3D printing is more advanced than it was when I started and they can even make the engines bells in brass or bronze!
I appreciate the trust and collaboration of my customers who lent me their precious part and sending it to me by international mail to start off the process of replication.
Over the years, I also made a few custom orders for orphaned parts of other brands. Soon, I will get them posted as well.
Lastly, if you want to thank someone, give your praise to Father Fred Mills. He saw a solution here years ago after Aristo folded and advocated on your behalf for me to take on this little enterprise.
Thanks Fred and all my customers.
