All I can see…is it looks like it’s from a Chuggington cartoon. No diesel is ever ugly! Nice work, by the way.

Bruce I’ll take a close look at the mesh for you and get back with the size. Bob and Bart were thinking chainlink fence in 1/20. I’m building in 1/29. I got it at AC Moore.

Thanks to all for the comments

The actual size on the mesh is 3/32 x 1/16 per diamond shape

in 1/29 it’s…1 1/2" x 3 1/2" roughly

in 1/22 it’s 1" x 2 1/4" roughly

That’s coming out great so far. Im a little confused: where is the smoke box, boiler, smoke stack, side rods and fire box

I wanna know where you got that hex rod styrene, never seen that before.

Can’t remember Vic, but if it’s not Plastruct ( like I think ), than it’s Evergreen. And it comes in different sizes.

Great work Dave. Been following along but staying in the background. Got your PM and sent you my phone number. Call when you can.

This BL-2 build log belongs back on page 1. T T T

Dave,

Any more progress?

Sincerely,

Joe Satnik

Getting ready for an update this weekend Joe. We started residing the house and putting in replacement windows three weeks ago. It has eaten into my modeling time considerably. But there has been some minor progress made.

Time to start the rear body build.

The wood shape has had the roof and tail end sanded to it’s final rough shape, and just needs to get a few coats of sealer and some smoothing sand passes to be ready for finish. So I applied the flat side pieces with a judicial amount of cutting and fitting the rear cab window facings, to get all the lines right.

The body glued and banded.

A bit of the rear window angles.

And a bit of putty to fill a few fillets and joints.

checking the two angles for the rear windows.

cutouts for the radiator grills.

and checking it all with a pilot

I think I’m getting there.

Thanks again for the comments, and I’ve still got some chores to take care of before I’ll get any real time in on the build.

Yup, it’s starting to look just as ugly as the prototype…

Nice work, Hollywood…

I thought the correct term was ““Ugly Duckling””…

Working with styrene is one thing, but I’m really impressed with your wood work. It’s all nicely done.

No diesel is ever ugly. paint a face on it and I’m afraid of what the boys will say…

Outstanding work so far Hollywood!

However this is only my opinion

Amazin’, simply amazin’.

Nice, Hollywood. I see you’re giving Rooster a run for the money in the scratch built engine division!
