Too cool. When are you coming by? We need to cruise!
Getting the chrome on, couple of the portholes were a real challenge!

Here’s what I’m thinking Jerry. DC. Vietnam Vets Memorial. Ops on the J&B. Cruising in a 56 Buick. I’ll get the tunes. And the beer.
And time it for Hot rod week at York.
I found a whole box of 8 track cartridges while cleaning out my Aunt’s old house.
Yuh want 'em, Jerry?
My hot rod plays them fancy shmancy little discs.
John,
8-tracks were not in cars till about 65. Not even sure you could get an FM radio in a car in 56, just AM. Luckily we have a station near here that plays oldies on AM all day long. One can get a radio that fits in the dash holes that is AM/FM and has a Mp3 player hookup, but I think I’ll stick with the AM radio. It’s not like I take it on long trips!
Update?
Well, all the trim is on, so are the headlights/taillights. Rear carpet and door sills are in, working on the front. Pulled the clock today and worked on it. Just picked up a steering wheel I had found with no cracks(mine has about 100!) and had the guy that painted the car paint the wheel. Seats are being done. Waiting to see what that bill comes too, hoping I can afford to send off the bumpers to get re-chromed.
Progress has been a bit slow, was so cold it took too much electricity to heat up the garage, so only heat it up on days that are above freezing anyway. Still need to buy all the weatherstripping, which will be about $500 or so…old cars are a money pit, but fun! Back to 844.
<<old cars are a money pit,>>
That they are. But you are on the home stretch now.
Think of the phun driving it, while everyone stares at it.
3 years ago I was interested in a 1950 Dodge coupe I could have had fairly reasonable. Most of the work was done.
To finish the interior (upholstery-head liner-floor) and finish the motor was going to add up to around $15,000.
You are much better off buying one all ready done.
You are right John. Here’s the Buick as of this morning.

It’s not done yet??
Well, there is a thing called money, have to save. Interior is being done right now. If it is not much over the estimate(they also worked on the carpet some) then I want to get the bumpers re-chromed. THen I could drive it as I save up for the weatherstripping-like $500 or so.
Sent off the bumpers for re-chrome. Takes two months, they said.
I guess they must be busy, Jerry.
It will be worth the wait. The new chrome will look great with the new paint.
Ralph
Got the back seat in today, but strained my back. Not sure when he’ll get done with the rest of the interior. Bumpers should be here soon. POOR BACK!

Got the front seat in today. Will bolt down the seatbelts tomorrow. He got in the naugahyde for the door panels, so hope they get done next week. Chrome guys said another week on the bumpers, said the same thing TWO weeks ago.
The seats look great, Jerry.
You’ve got one sharp ride
Ralph
That was when back seats were functional!!!
The back seat in my 53 chevy was too small.
"51 Merc 4 door sedans had huge back seats…
