Ah.. bah, someone who thinks everyone can/should get along with everybody.
For the most part, we DO get along with everybody here. With any open and honest discussion, on occasion you will have hurt feelings. Steve F and I seldom agree on politics, but I would be proud to have him as a neighbor. Participants on this forum have spirit. I hope that never changes. Ralph
And I would be proud to have Ralph as a neighbor, along with HJ, Brian, Mike and all the rest of you reprobates! Can you imagine the headaches we could give Bob as we wine, "Wah, I sent a boxcar to McCown Freight at Bruce's layout, it never got there, and now it's lost!"

Heck, we just might thik of doing that, now. I wonder how much it would cost to ship a boxcar to Bruce’s from Deer Park?

First of all…where is the Deer Parking lot…!!!

Then you have to realize that HJ is a crazy Swiss expatriot and only models Swiss NG, which would not look quite right with a NA "Box Car" rumbling along in it's consist.......

The postage would not be the problem; it’s the experience of packing up a car loaded with good Whisky, that could create quite a stir at the Canadian customs office…!!!

Oh…that would work better…shipping to Bruce’s place would allow the Whisky load…but remember, Bruce is dedicated to air lines that work, and 1:20.3 scale…your 1:24/1:22.5 stuff would not fit in…!!!

Gasp (with emphasis on the following exclamation point)! Having such as Ralph, JH, Brian, Mike and all the rest of you reprobates as neighbors would be a fate worse than death. Neighbors are only useful when they are separated by minefields or tank traps.

And, as far as this site is concerned, I remain perplexed why I have to always consider whether or not I show smilies. Is there some way I can forever remove this option? I would not use smilies, even it they were offered free.

Bob

Bob,
Without them, one would never know if your tongue was in cheek.
And they are free.

Bob, The smilies are FREE :D, smiling is FREE, too. Now as far as “reprobates” go, that is strictly a matter which side of the fences, minefields or tank traps you stand. Looking out is always better than looking in. PS Let’s give Bob a proper Tongue in Cheek smiley

No-body, but NOBODY, wants to live next to me…the parties are just too long and almost continuous, for most peoples’ taste…beside there is a “Sewer and Sludge Works” on the property…!!!

Bob -
Am I interpreting accurately you were ENCOURAGING rpc7271 to make said statement – or the like – on LSC so he could receive a “full measure” – which would only permissable from the open policies of LSC?

Your statement:
“As for rpc7271, you seem to be sadly misinformed. Why not flip over to Large Scale Central and enter your snide remarks? They would not only be expected but they would be welcomed.”

I share the open policy – and granted specific postings to become “personal” in intent.

Wendell, it is not my intent now or before to seek “full measure” for anything. Indeed, I value a quip or a sharp stick in the eye as much as anyone else. MLS contributors have pointed out that his remark was unwarranted in light of the context. Okay. One of the joys of being a member of LSC, as I’ve already written is to sometimes notice that, with tongue in check, combative or argumentative language arises. I have a thick skin and don’t usually take remarks very seriously. Insert smiley here.

Bob

All the guys on this site are some of my closest friends and I enjoy the sparing with them. I do go to other sites occassionally, if I am poiinted to something of interest, but this is where I hang out, this is my home page on my computer. Bob has created a very welcome atmosphere for everyone and you get what you give. I’ll put the guys on this site up against anyone in the hobby.

As far as you are concerned..........the feeling is mutual. You feel you are superior, when in truth you bore me to the point of tears. Ralph

Thanks Ric, you hit the nail on the head with what you wrote (although I am not sure I personally belong to ‘all’;-)…, but I definitely consider you and other members of this site to be my friends, even if I poke fun or disagree with you or the others, on occasions;-))… I hope it is all within limits of good taste!! And it if it is not, I have nothing against being reminded. Anyway, I tend to think that only through open and critical discussion one can get closer to the truth, and keep the discussions interesting - and some degree of noise is actually stimulating for the senses! Plus, on a forum with minimal constraints and minimal moderation, the participants are in a better position to develop and exercise self-discipline and learn to moderate the discussions by themselves to avoid waste of time, rather than be subject to censorship, thread locking and the like… Best wishes from Tokyo, Zubi

Boy you guys all sound like you’re a bunch of nutcases who have been inhaling too much Floquil paint!
Maybe I’ll come up with something more succinct to say after I venture into the swirling snow outside to check my horses. I think the cat has the right idea-sleep on top of the radiator.

Nicely put, Zubi…after all, most of us claim to be adults, with a few years of experience in living a life, getting along with others. We may “Play” with our toys, and appear to some as children; but most of us can at times show some style of self discipline, or at least enough to prevent all out war…!!! Other places seem to have the idea that we have to have classroom monitors, at all times, to keep us on somebody’s idea of a straight line. I call that censorship, in any language…which most of us would rally to fight against.
Sheep tend to like that sort of herd mentality…and tend to thrive with it, against any independent thought.
Most of us have slipped into it on occasion, and paid the price, too often.

With me it's the cumulative effect of M-E-K, Floquil paint, laquer thinner, acetone ..... BTW what is a radiator? :P :)

Stick around a little while. One need not be a "nutcase" to participate. But one must be able to appreciate a "nutcase". Ralph

As long as there are good nuts in the case.
Like already shelled Brazil nuts or almonds.

I find that smelling the fumes of burning LGB plastic cars has much the same effect as Irish Whisky…and the cost is much more reasonable…!!!

Gimme Lagvulin anyday
