And on your newspaper clippings (translations), remember they only carry the message the interviewee or the reporter wants the reader to know. If you hadn’t bashed red boxes all these years, you might be in on the behind the scenes “rest of the story” discussions.

But since you don’t care for my comments, I will delete your e-mail addie and not trouble you further.

Ciao.

Marvin,

Ahhhhhhhhhh but you just never know when an enterprising investigative reporter will start digging a bit deeper, do you??

Of course I get plenty of “stuff” sent my way, but that doesn’t mean that I post regarding those tidbits. As you correctly noted, our company has a small stake in the model railroading sector, soooooo we can’t afford to go along with “reliable sources” that are not that reliable. Even if I get asked for additional info, I’m very careful who gets to hear or read the stuff I get fed. You goof up with LS info, you could look like a goof with any info in the other scales, too.
Besides considering the “Wolfgang fired” and a few other “nuggets” from “reliable sources”, personally I wouldn’t want to look that silly.

The “Wolfgang fired” did actually happen, but for obvious reasons was never made public. If a book is ever written on this situation it could use one of the following titles:

GONE WITH THE WIMPS…
EVERYTHING YA ALWAYS WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT HARDHEADS, BUT WERE AFRAID TO ASK.
G-SCALE FOR AND BY, DUMMIES!
STUPIDITY ILLISTRATED
THEY SCHEME BY NIGHT
30 SECONDS OVER NUREMBERG
I DID IT THEIR WAY
CLOCKWORK NUREMBURG
I WAS TAKEN FOR A TRAIN RIDE
BEHIND THE VEIL OF SECRECY

Now for the funny faces

Boy.

I think we’ve been here before, Marvin, and if I recall, it wasn’t real pleasant on your end.

To avoid a repeat performance, and because your grasp of reality seems to be slipping, I am not going to respond anymore to your posts.

Actually it was your end that was not very pleasant. Ask many of the Old “Big Trains” Crowd.

My reality has never slipped. I passed my Annual Psych Eval with flying colors last month. When have you ever had one? And I remember the phone call and still have that number filed…funny it was not from the office the caller said it was.

But I still see you are up to your old tricks when someone disagrees with your viewpoint.

Step 1: Attempt to intimidate and chase the individual from the website.
Step 2: Attempt to discredit the individual with the other participants.
Step 3: Organize an e-mail campaign to the site owner stating that the individual is disruptive and should be banned.

You have used this successfully in so many previous occasions, so you continue to use the practice and if those that have been around awhile would think about it, they would remember instances where you have been successful.

It’s a pity that you have to be this way.

Why am I reminded so much of a Kindergarten sandbox brawl? Does Bob have to take all your pails and shovels away before you hurt each other? Maybe you’ll all feel better after a nice nap. Geez!

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Nope, didn’t work. I’m still the same. Sigh.

Hey Steve

Are you having a Z scale nap? Kind of small, isn’t it?

Sandbox brawls don’t usually involve 15 million Euros.

Everyone, including me, wants LGB to recover.
Unfortunately, that may well mean an open bloodletting.
Once the reasons why LGB went broke in the first place become evident, the sooner LGB will get back on track. So to speak.

That is all that I have time for.

My lovely bride is home. Today is President’s Day, (Used to be Lincoln’s Birthday) and the banks are closed. I have lots of honey-do’s to attend to.

Tony,

The same here, the sooner the new owner has the operation back to speed the better. Sooner or later I’ll need supplies for my projects and the way things stand now, I won’t even bother to ask my trusty dealer.

BTW Schöntag’s press release should be an eye opener even to the most rabid of the RBB. And since it is in English and German they can’t even try to question my translation.   That must be a real disappointment for some of those clowns!

Yep, but it isn't YOUR (plural) Monopoly money, so why are you all so busy sniping at each other over it? The courts will decide what they decide when they decide. Meanwhile all the yammering on all the sites on the web will STILL mean diddly.

IMO If you have news then by all means post it, but if all you have is nasty comments about somebody else, then PLEASE save it… Or do you all just enjoy rereading your own drivel THAT much? Yep, sandbox brawl still about covers it.

MIK, whilst it certainly is true that it is not my money, I do have an interest in the outcome of all this.

At the 1992 Nuremberg Toy Fair which I attended, I was approached by Wolfgang to discuss with the LGB technical director the possibility of making LGB locomotives more battery R/C compatible than they were.
During the meeting in the real “beer car” I explained to them that it would be necessary to modifiy the tooling to separate the motor(s) completely from the track. It was decided to proceed no further.
As it transpired, it was necessary for LGB to mdify the tooling anyway to accommodate the MTS DCC.

Granted I have absolutely no way of influencing the outcome of the current situation, but, if what I expect to happen at LGB in Germany actually happens, then I might well end up with a big smile on my face.

Besides Mik, those that are snipping at each other would be doing so regardless of LGB’s situation. They do it all the time. It could be over Bachmann, RC, a new Aristo release or the quality of USAT paint jobs. The subject matter is unimportant. It’s nothing but a tool used to facilitate the entertainment they get poking at each other…

Ah, yes, they do go on a bit, don't they?

Why, were they routing the power to the motors through the frame or something??

ALL early LGB units had 3-wire motor blocks.
Try to have any on-board control with that and track feed.

Now it’s 4-wire.

You know I have been reading this thread for days now and am just amazed. Buyer maybe paid off – Banks manipulating the foreclosure to a favorite… If you believe that good for you, but It’s just not probable. This is just business… good businesses get rewarded… or beat to death when someone else builds a better plan…

First if a major bank did manipulate the loan and foreclosed they would be found out by their client base in the long run, a serious business issue for all their other customers …nobody keeps that kind of thing secret for long. It would cost the bank to friggin’ much in the long view… most big business leaders are not idiots, no matter how they may be portrayed in cartoon strips, though I’ve work for a few that tested that presumption. (BTW Dilbert is the personal favorite)

Second if Mssr Schontag all of a sudden can’t get financing it’s probably more of the a scenario that the situation is not as represented in the press rather than he’s been paid off. First he was winning bidder with his plan. So he’s a dummie for some other corporation to do what " move the production to China"???, eliminate the German jobs??? horse poop…His ego is to damn big and visable in the deal.

In the USA ( in my experience/history with buy outs and foreclosures) generally first of all he had to put something in escrow (10% to 20% of the bid or so)to get in to the final bid which generally is not 100% refundable, then it (the deal and closing) is contingent final due diligence where things are as as described.

which is where 90% of deals breakdown… including this one… the words are what save who face.

Yet it is a two way street… there could be shenanigans (while I doubt it, and I’ll probably never know if it really is happening) and others could have influence on the banks (possible, but in the long run I doubt it) or his financing truly disappeared given other circumstances (other debt and bankruptcies) but if there was enough of a commitment to bid it is doubtful that that this would have occured unless the situation (the underlying financials) is much more dire for EPL than generally visable…

I’ve got no axe to grind, and no product to sell. I hope they survive and become more competitive in the market. The hobby is already to damn expensive to lose even a high end competitor

All we do is ask the questions.
Sometimes we get an answer IN PRINT.

There are a lot of answers out there, but not yet in the public domain.

I do believe someone stepped on their…well, you get the idea…when they announced someone couldn’t get financing.

What IS happening is an amazing story, but, like I said, not yet in print in the public domain.

Suffice it to say, when one comes out and says the first is kaput, and 2 days later the first one comes back OBVIOUSLY in charge, well, makes you go ask even more questions.

Mark,

Yes, to more or less everything you listed.

There has been a small note on the NTF website, but most is just rehashed - the press releases from LGBoA and EPL GmbH - and referenced to the rumours that are circulating.
