Fall Runnning Finally

Well after a hurrican in early sept and loosing power for 7 days and a week after that a tropical storm. breaking aug and sept rainfall records. Then an oct snowstorm that dumped over a foot of snow and loosing power for two days I finally got the layout cleared and dried out. It helps that im not battleing the leaves anymore. Fall has to be my faverite time of the year for everything but running trains ?#&^ leaves:) I spent the last few nice days getting the layout cleaned and today got to relaxe and run trains.

I love the colors the rhododendrons gets.

Logging spur is looking good with just rails showing. Looking out towards the Kittatinny Ridge.

Hey Shawn nice looking pictures. I really like the track only picture from the logging spur looking east. Btw don’t put a block to hide the sheds, make a spur that runs out to the sheds for storage.

Cool pics Shawn. RR is looking great! It’s amazing what you have done in such a short while.

Nice Shawn.
I’m waiting for the leaves to finish falling.
leaf blower is ready & waiting

Excellent!! That’s what it’s all about …take a good look at that pic …there is so much their it’s not even funny! Wish I had that natural background…one awesome resource there! Very nice Shawn …where the hell is my favorite plow?

Nice. Take that one leaf on the track in that last photo, multiply it by, oh, about a million and some, and you’ve got my railroad. (Oh, and don’t forget to add remnants of last week’s snow, too.) Suffice to say I’m not doing a bunch of running at home right now. I did get out to the Colo. RR museum for a few hours today, but had do dodge falling leaves and small branches there, too. (At leat no snow there…)

Later,

K

What everyone said above!
Nice little Lokie, as well. A Forney?

My layout has about a foot of maple leaves on top of it.
I’m waiting for the last SOB to fall before I blow them all off…

John.....he's young and has nothing but forney cation on his mind...unlike me as I'm mature! Really good shot......I will always have a liking to Cumberland Trestle though...;)

Looks great Shawn.

You’ve had some nice weather for it. It’s been close to 70 here since the weekend. Trees around here have only lost about half their leaves, and we have a ways to go yet. The good news is the wife trimmed back the Hydrangeas above the layout, so I won’t have to deal with the faded blooms from those. I also had my share of fall running out at Ric and Andy’s over the weekend.
Keep up the good work, Shawn!

Thanks guys for the compliments.
Rooster Ill get a shot of your plow when I get home from work. Its slowly rotting away.
Today we are back to some rain and cold front that might bring some snow showers tonight. Glad I got the last good day in.
Ralph the leadf blower makes a big difference. Just before the snowstorm I couldnt even see the layout because of the leaves. A few minutes with the blower and it was clear.

Really looks good Shawn. I always enjoy your pics.

Nice railroad. Lovely atmosphere. Makes me want to walk the right of way camera in hand.

Ok Rooster here is your plow now.

If I can get the weeds cleared from the ROW, I’ll be runnin Sunday.
Ralph

Rooster they look great on your layout. I got new camera so I should be back in business. Hopeing to run Monday and tuesday although snow showers are in the forcast.
Ralph no excuses.

Great tunnel shot! I really like the brick liner.

After a nearly 5 month hiatus, the PVRR is back in action. I spent about 10 minutes clearing the ROW of weeds and was ready to roll. During the 5 month hiatus, the PVRR went from temps of 100F to 25F and survived many heavy rains. With no reballasting or track realignment, I was able to run with no derailments or uncouplings. So, for all those who say free floating track requires too much maint…I say poppycock  What it does require is proper design & drainage  I have over 12 tons of gravel in the GRR. But at $20 a ton, delivered,it is still a cheap method of roadbed construction. I didn’t put out any buildings or scenery, as most were removed last weekend when I blew off the leaves. Ralph
