Large Scale Central

F-40 in 1:29th

Lights are mocked up and need some filling and minor sanding on the front yet. Blew the primer a bit heavy on the left of the headlamp but sanding will square that up.

The Nose would be great if it was an SDP45…I’ll fix that later. The lines on this unit even though they seem straight forward are more difficult than expected and there are so many variations of the F40 4 axle unit it ain’t even funny. But I’m learning and enjoying. I cannot understand how I burn up 2hrs modeling after work and feel like it was 5 minutes.

Going back to this picture. How are you scribing the door lines on the model? Any special tool, or just a lot of work with an Xacto blade?

No special tools…Some are scribed with an eyeglasses flat blade screwdriver. Others are made with automotive or basically dental picks. Depends on how wide or deep I want to go.

I could not even compare yours with 6 1/4" more length and much greater detail
than the “OTHER” F40. I’ll keep looking into Ralph’s GT files to see if he made a full size mockup.
I do have 4 of his mockup shorter sized Superliner cars.

Guilty…I did get Vic’s 1:32 stuff and enjoy them on my elevated test track.
re:Ralph
Ralph Brown was the owner/builder of Great Trains F40 and other 1:32 loco/cars.
His short line (and less detailed) were ok for the general users.
His detailed line was the other end of the balance scale.
He was a confirmed Rivet Counter in his personal/published model work.
From what I see on my screen, your effort is WAY UP THERE…GREAT JOB…
…please pardon my drooling…looking forward to seeing it this FALL…

Holy crap....I just realized I must be a Mayfly? Can you make one faster for me? :)

Currently working on the detail junk which most is built up from the scrap box(on the airtanks) so I’ll dump some pics.
